Makes your lock useful when you are not using it as a lock.
What do you hate about D-locks? They are heavy to carry around when you are not using them! What if the lock could do something when you are not using it to secure the bike to an immoveable object? The harness for this lock that fits round the seat tube allows you to use the lock as a cycle rack when it is not securing your bike. It does a surprisingly good job too when it comes to nap sacks and bulkier items. Sure, for bigger things the provided bungee cord needs to be complimented with a traditional bungee cord to attain more length but still, it is surprising how stable the rack assembly is. Additionally, when the lock is being used as a rack and therefore carrying something, you also have a ready made rear mudguard! The lock itself is sturdy and is a better solution than a coil lock - though I chose to carry a D-Lock and a decent coil lock using both to secure the bike.I actually already had one of these but it was getting old and suffering the usual problems old locks suffer so replaced it with this product that is near enough identical. I have absolutely no complaints! It does the job perfectly and solves the problem of heavy locks being a burden when not in use.If your saddle is right down so you can sit on the saddle, straight legged with your heals rising from the floor, then you won't have space for this ensemble. You will need to have some seat post showing where the unit will clamp to. Also, be aware that the fact you are using the seat post as an anchor point does mean there is a limit to the amount of weight you should put on the unit when you are using it as a rack. For stuff you usually put in a knapsack, it is more than adequate.
