The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term "vibrato" to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Love it
Put this on my Les Paul studio, since I bought the guitar years ago to gig with I’ve always thought the guitar needed that Neil Young vibe. Mounted it with the vibramate mounting plate (because really who wants to drill their guitar), replaced saddles on the bridge with rollers and added a bone nut and now it stays in tune better than it did from the factory.

Nice upgrade
Just installed this on my Epiphone Dot. I used the Vibramate V7-335 with it, however the tailpiece plate from the Vibramate did fit properly with the Bigsby. I mounted the Hinge plate directly with the provided screws and it's pretty nice. I think I may end up directly mounting the Bigsby to the guitar in the future. Not sure I like the look of the vibramate, but the Bigsby looks and plays amazing!

Awesome!!!
If you want a vibrato on your Les Paul, this would be the hardware to purchase. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to suggest this, but if you wish to avoid making any marks on the surface of or drilling into your beloved guitar, I would strongly suggest purchasing the Vibramate Adapter/Mounting kit (also available here on Amazon and for other Bigsby models).

GET YOUR OWN SCREWS
Giving this a 3 because a blue alightment string for centering bigsby in guitar body not provided. Not a huge deal, just find done twine. But the mounting screws for butt of guitar are the cheapest soft metal screws available. And if you drill properly sized pilot hole you will risk stripping screw head, no matter correct your driver and how careful you are... so, you should find stainless steel screws to use instead. Bigsby should supply quality screws (about 0.18 each retail) to match quality of tremolo.

Amazing. Buy with vibramate
Amazing vibrato bridge. Feels so good to play with! And looks breathtaking on a Gibson LP.Suggest buying it with a vibramate so you don’t have to drill into you instrument and can go back to how it was before if you need to.

Genuine Bigsby!
Awesome genuine bigsby vibrato. Comes with all hardware for a hard mount. Easy to install with a vibramate bracket for those who don’t want to damage the guitar.

Very pleased!
Made my Gibson Traditional Les Paul so much more dynamic. I was never a vibrato guy before and bought on a curiosity whim but it made me love my Les Paul SO MUCH more than I already did. Makes it so much more dynamic. I was very surprised and simple to install.

Added trem to my Gibson LP and is working well so far. but i'm not going to keep it.
Updated: After having this on for about a month, i'm going to remove it. It actually is working GREAT and I don't have any intonation or tuning issues with using the tremlo. However, on some of our songs, I use a capo. And when I put the capo on, the guitar goes sharp almost a whole 1/4 step. That is a LOT. Totally unacceptable for my purposes. If it wasn't for my requirement to use a capo on some songs I would totally keep it. I would rate the 3 1/2 stars now, not 4. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I installed this on my Gibson Standard LP using the Vibramate V7-LP. This is a great way to add tremelo to your Gibson Standard. I get plenty of tremelo on it. Even some deep'ish bends. One of the songs we play is "Wicked Game" and I was using my Fender to gig, because I had that song, and few others, where I needed to bend the note down. But, I really loved my Gibson and wanted to gig with it again. Tone is great on the Gibson still with this and I actually am using the tremelo bar on songs I hadn't planned on just to add a bit of trem and it sounds great. I have locking tuners and haven't had crazy tuning issues like some people have had. I have noticed that when I use a capo it's not quite right though. so, I guess the one downside here is that you really don't have control on how much tension you want on the tremelo. I wish I could choose spring gauge and I would go with an even stronger spring! But, it was either this, or sell my Gibson and go buy a PRC Custom 22. This was the cheaper option. :)

Yup - this make a big difference.
Did the trick for my Epiphone Elitest 1965 Casino. Incredible chime, sweetness and sustain as a result. You'll want to install a Bigsby on all your guitars after hearing the difference. If you're a Metal worshiper - this ain't for you...not a true whammy bar - more of a vibrato effect.
