Just pulled map out of package and it is ripped at the top half. Thought I was beyond a brand new map.

It was a bit larger than usual maps, but that was the point. I wanted larger. Lots of information also included on sights to see, towns, elevations, etc. Good map. Would recommend.

I had to add the declination and north to south mercanter lines. I also waterproofed the map

Just recently made it back from our trip to South Dakota and this map was really helpful. Sometimes it's easier to go old school and break out a good old map and this didn't disappoint. It's easy to read and find the places of interest and it folds up pretty easy too. It's just a paper map, no fancy plastic coating but I really appreciated having it.

bought by mistake but might keep it anyway.

We loved this map for the content and details - the Black Hills on one side and the state on the other. HOWEVER, even though the paper is thicker than a regular road map, it immediately started to tear before we even got on the road. Although we were gentle with it during our 10 day trip it still resulted in an ongoing Scotch tape job on the edges and the folds, which was extremely annoying. So for us it ended up being mostly a "one and done" as it's no longer nice enough to share with anyone heading that direction. For the money, it seems that a laminate type of paper should have been used.
