Q: Do I have to fold the paper around the edge, or can I put a normal sheet of paper only in the front of the binder?

Not necessarily, you will accommodate the paper the way you prefer. If it is a letter paper, you will put it completely in the front. However, you will look in the Quickfit site, they have an option (like templates) where you will create your cover, and includes the side title. If you don't want to use the side title, you will make your own front cover.
