This is a blast from the past. It has the pull/push mechanism which my kids love as it makes it easier for them to use, and the tin is sturdy and gives it that vintage feel. Spins well (kinda noisy but expected) and is simple enough for them to use.

I ordered this spinning top tin toy for my children hoping it will be easier for my 2 and 3 year old children to use than a regular top. I never had one of these tin tops as a child, although, my husband did and he thinks it looks just like the one from his childhood. Since I had never seen one of these before, I was very surprised by the noise of it. The noise is quite jarring with all that metal clanging together but my husband said that was normal. The vehicle pattern is cute and has nice bright colors. The tin feels firm and solid. Overall, I think it is a well crafted top. The children will have a lot of fun with it but I am going to make it an outside toy since it is very loud.

When I saw this toy I thought I had to get it for my 3 year old nephew. He has played with a few small tops here and there but nothing of this size or quality. It certainly spins and is very colorful. He had to practice to keep it on its tip while pumping the plunger but he managed to do it. I think it is an excellent toy and great for toddlers to learn how to perfect their hand/eye coordination and other skills. We all had fund competing on who could get it to spin the longest.

This top did spin as expected and is cute with the toy vehicles pictured on the toy. Can't help but smile watching it spin 90-nothing and wobble till it quits. My concern is the tin material doesn't feel very sturdy like ones in the past and simply doesn't feel safe. It is clearly labeled not for children under 3 years. I would only let a child use it under direct adult supervision.

My wife grew up with a similar toy and got so excited when she saw this Retro spinning toy. Our almost 3yo, pretty quickly figured out how to use it correctly and play with it.The print is cute, the colors are vibrant, the toy is well made (metal material). Also does make a rattle type noise and that is normal.Our daughter loves being will to make this toy spin and watch it spin until it stops.

I was so excited for this retro spinning top, but sadly, it failed to meet my expectations. I really, really, really wanted to like this toy, but try as I might, I could not get it to spin as intended. As long as I held on to the handle and kept it upright, the toy would spin, but as soon as I let it go, it just tipped over onto its side and stopped. Maybe the toy I received is defective, or maybe I'm just not doing it right, but if it doesn't work for a grown adult, how is a child supposed to get it to spin? I wish I could say that this worked like the childhood toy I remembered, but unfortunately, it just doesn't.

This spinning top is a slightly smaller version of the classic, vintage toys. It is metal, with some plastic parts. It spins well, especially if you give it several pumps. As it spins it plays a note, or maybe a chord... which kind of ads to the mesmerizing effect of the toy. The colors on the top of the top don't really create the most dramatic pattern as it spins, but that's not that big of a deal to our kids.

This top works just like the old fashioned kind. It seems a bit smaller than they used to make them though.
