ORICO 2-Bay 3.5 Inch Aluminium USB 3.0 Hard Drive Enclosure for Two 3.5 Inch SATA III Hard Disk Drives - Black

Bought this to act as a back device, worked without a problem, just left it running over night, job done.

I dont always write reviews about products but I have to warn people about this item. DO NOT BUY IT OR YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA! I have bought not long ago and I put brand new 2 Toshiba 3tb HDD in it, ( I have always used Toshiba HDD and never for once had problems with them) not even a weeks use,after I backed up some of my photos, the HDDs decided not to response. I turned the PC off and back on again and windows 10 was asking me to format the hdds as they were not recognisable. Unbelievable! Good Job I have 2 other back up hdds othwerwise I would be knackered. I was rather hesitant when it first arrived as it looks flimsy,but I still thought it must be ok. It is super super super noisy,and it will just ruin your data and your hdds. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this product!!!! Anyone wants to ask anything,please feel free to leave a comment.

This appears to be identical to https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XT66N7J/ref=psdc_430435031_t3_B07BJKFF8T which is slightly cheaper, but I bought this one for ease of return should that be necessary after reading the reviews for the "other" version.Firstly the good stuff: really excellent design, incredibly easy to install and/or change hard disks without tools or fuss and gives good throughput on USB 3. The case is well made too and even though mine is hidden from sight it looks pretty good on the desktop if that's your chosen location. But...... It is incredibly noisy for reasons that are unclear to me. The noise doesn't sound mechanical, more an "air rush" sound which may or may not be either a badly designed fan or (more likely) some internal baffling disrupting smooth air flow. It's a shame really and had I been intending to use it on my desktop I would have returned it, but my use is with a NAS hidden in a cupboard in another room so the noise is largely irrelevant.Several of the other reviewers said it quietened after a little use, but I find the fan noise disappears only when the drive "goes to sleep" when unused for a little while but returns as soon as it comes back on line. The fan seems to be either full on or off - no speed control - neither does it appear to be related to the temperature of the drive(s) nor ambient temperature.I do really like the overall design though, hence the four star rating *FOR MY USAGE* - it would get a much, much lower rating had I bought it for desktop use.
