works and mostly easy to set up with HomeKit
I ordered the 4 pack and one plug would not connect. I contacted the manufacture and they immediately shipped me a replacement for the unit that was not connecting to HomeKit. The new unit connected and all 4 units are working with HomeKit. I would purchase again. Great communication and customer service from eightree.

Excellent smart plugs
I have used WEMO outlets for quite some time. It seemed like half of the time they were updating, or not replying. Eightree smart plugs were very easy to set up, and not once have they been anything but online, ready to go.Buy these.

An improvement over other budget smart plugs, but how do you update the firmware?
The WiFi seems weak so you might not be able to use these everywhere, but at $5 per unit they are a good value. I am concerned that I don’t see any way to update the firmware so any security holes might be there forever. If you have solved that, add that comment. Thank you.Once placed in the proper location, this was a quick add to Apple Home and moving it to a different room with a different access point was not a problem.

Good quality plug
The matter feature is good, and the plug quality is good as well, if it stays online all the time! After switching 21 plugs to Tapo, the problem of going offline for some of them persisted. So to be fair to Eightree, I decided to give it a better review. The round design however might get in the way in some instances. Also Eightree is a little cheaper than Tapo.I highly recommend this smart plug anyway.

Used for outdoor string lights with Apple HomeKit
Perfect for use with Apple’s HomeKit. I have them tucked away from any possible exposure to rain since they’re located outdoors.

Absolute junk
UPDATE 3: After a couple of weeks all disconnected and never worked again. Absolute JUNK. UPDATE2: After a few days it's obvious these won't work. They don't stay connected to wifi and randomly power cycle. Can't imagine what they could be used for that would tolerate that. Update1: have odd, quick, on-off cycles, almost like a power blip, about twice a day. It only happens to these, so not sure what is going on. Will keep an eye. Couldn't be used on sensitive electronics. ORIGINAL: Homekit add with QR code. One and done. Simplest add I've done. Meross better figure it out or this company will crush them. Matter is best!

Brilliant product!
Works with Alexa, Google Home, and Siri! I have 3 of these devices and they can all work simultaneously. 10/10 will recommend. However, not recommended for connection to plug-in heaters. It overheats this product and makes the heater uncontrollable even when you remotely switch on or off.Lesson learned, but best smart plug-in ever.

Easy Set Up, As Long as You Use The Code on the Side of The Plug and Not the QR Code
As someone whose entire home Internet of Things (IOT) runs on the Google system, I probably have around ~45 devices connected.I still do not yet have any smart plugs, because I have found that smart bulbs have done the trick for me so far, but last Christmas I found myself wishing for a smart plug that would allow me to turn the tree on and off with my phone, as the plug is behind the tree and very awkward to access, especially after Santa has been buy and left lots of goodies under the tree.So I decided to give these plugs a try, as they say with integrate with the Google universe. Like many of these IOT devices, they run on 2.4Gh. My ISP has provided me with a router that likes to be the one who decides what devices run on 2.4Gh, and which ones run on 5G.It does allow bandsterring (choosing one frequency or the other) but it is a pain to do as I have to unplug my Google mesh wi-fi, turn off bandsterring on the router, hope the new device can ""see"" the 2.4Gh frequency, and set it up from there. Then I have to reinitiate my Google mesh wi-fi, and re-boot my ISP router, which takes exactly 12 minutes. And then, and only then, can I see if Google home can control the 2.4Gh device. So I did all that, and followed the directions in the booklet that came with the plugs. You plug in the plug, and press the button on the side until it blinks to activate the bluetooth connection to your phone. Then your phone prompts you to scan the QR code in the booklet. I must have tried to scan that code more than 20 times, and every time it could not capture it. It told me to ensure that I was in a place with good lighting, and it even provides a link to turn on your phone's flashlight, which I did. It didn't help. It also tells you to hold the phone steady, which I obviously did.I ended up selecting the option to ""set up without the QR code"", which instructs you that there might be a code on the side of the plug that you can use to pair the device with your bluetooth. If not, you have to contact the company.I had to unplug the plug to look for a number on the side, as the outlet is very close to the floor, and the code is printed in very small numbers on the side of the plug. I wrote the code down on a piece of paper, and started again. This time, using the code, the process was very easy. It paired with my Google Home easily, and I named it "Christmas Tree".I then set up the second one, and as I was doing this in the basement where the router and the mesh wi-fi system is, neither of the plugs were set up on the outlet where they would eventually live. I set them both up using the code, and then unplugged them to move them to the outlets on the main floor where I wanted them to be. Before I did that, I plugged in my mesh wi-fi again, and deactivated the bandsterring. However, I pluged the one called Christmas Tree into the outlet where the tree normally plugs in, and the other one into an outlet where I wanted to be able to control a lamp as it is in an awkward place to reach the switch, and I can control them both from my Google Home. So they do work, and I am sure I will be very happy come the holidays. When I got to the main floor, I plugged in the smart plugs, and Google Home could not see them anymore. I learned that you have to set them up and plug them in where you want them to be permanently. If you unplug them (at least, in my configuration), you have to set it up all over again, which is very frustrating."

Challenges with the product at first but support is very attentive
I own a wide range of home automation devices and have many types of smart plugs. I bought these ones because of their Matter support and they were challenging to get working at first. I will say that support is very active and were always quick to respond and in the end, I was happy with the experience!

Definitely a steal!
This is a deal that you’ll find it hard to beat at this time at $12 each for a well built matter smart plug like this. Once I plugged it into an outlet it instantly popped up on my Google Home app on my phone, but I don’t have the Google Nest hub so I don’t know how that would work.My intention was to connect it to my SmartThings hub, and once I opened the app it notified me that there was a Matter device ready for pairing. I followed the instructions on the app and from the video in the product listing and the plug was ready to go in less than 5mins.I appreciate 2 things above all with this plug over others that cost almost half as much:- We don’t need to use the manufacturer’s app- Control is local, there is no need for the plug to contact a foreign server. Instead the plug speaks directly to my SmartThings hub.
