DAB solution through iPhone connection on BMW F20 1 series with BMW installed bluetooth phone only option
I have a BMW 1 series 2012 F20 which has bluetooth but not the option to spool bluetooth music (which ideally I wanted for DAB radio) so I was stuck with either stick with the stereo unit (which is good), have an ugly BMW installed product with cables and antennae on the windscreen, an aftermarket DAB unit which I really don't like sticking out somewhere on the centre console, stick with my iPhone/iPod usb adaptor, USB dongle or look at a bluetooth receiver option so I could have DAB radio. After reading numerous devices I selected the Miccus as the reviews, for the slightly cheaper version, were very good and this product supports aptX codecs over the other model. So I was concerned that the AX4 wouldn't allow me to spool music from my Apple iPhone 7 and also answer/make phone calls separately when paired to the AX4 and the BMW bluetooth system. Thankfully it worked which is a great result!!The AX4 sits neatly inside the centre armrest into the AUX connection, pressing down the button it turns "on" with orange and holding down for longer it flashes blue to pair with your smart device. It is worth connecting the USB power adaptor otherwise you need to turn the device on every time which currently happens to me (will connect the USB power later tonight). Once it is paired up it is fine with the volume quite loud. I haven't used the inbuilt microphone for phone calls as I don't need to as either talking to my iPhone, to activate Siri, or using my steering remote pauses the live internet radio station to AX4 connection and I can use my bluetooth BMW phone connection. Perfect.I expect this may differ between car makes/models so it could be hit and miss but it works fine on the BMW 1 series. No sound loss and no hissing or car mechanics interference but I purchased ground loop isolator just in case and it is connected with no issues.I found Thomas, at Miccus, very helpful and prompt with replies as well. Great product to solve my DAB radio problem.Update - 1st March 2017Just to advise that if you connect the AX4 to the USB socket, to charge it, the iPhone 7 then switches to headphones mode. This means you can still use it as a DAB radio or other music streaming but you won't be able to to make/receive phone calls via the BMW bluetooth system or activate Siri. It will pick up from the microphone in the centre console but the better option is to charge the AX4 before using it so you can continue to use both the AX4 to stream music from your phone and the bluetooth BMW service through your stereo

Perfecto!!!

Nearly great but badly flawed
Whilst this works as advertised, it is very quiet when playing music and as an after market add on to a car you will probably find that when you turn on the ignition you will be deafened by your radio or whatever your car defaults to. So your still having to press and adjust things.
