I have been a huge fan of growing plants using the hydroponic method since the first time I tried it. I don't understand why it isn't used in parts of the world where growing is difficult. It would take quite a bit to get going, and then there would always be a bounty. Most of the time you can just empty the water, rinse, and then refill to keep your plants going. However, they tend to get too big to continue doing this, and that's when a meter like this comes in handy. Now that I am playing around with aquaponics since I have always loved fish tanks, this meter is essential. This is so easy to use and to understand. I am used to using my chemicals to test the water ph when i water my plants it becomes super tedious. Having an electric meter changes the game and makes testing the water quick and easy. It also takes the guessing game out of trying to figure out what color on the color scale for what the ph level is.

Keeping the chemistry of your hydroponic system in balance is critical for growing healthy plants. The Yewhick multi function tester lets you keep track of 5 parameters in one instrument. I primarily measure the pH and TDS daily to keep the water properly balanced and with enough nutrients. I have another TDS meter and have been using a chemical pH test kit which I has given me good results so far, but it does take some time to take the readings this way. Having my key measurements in one instrument is much more convenient and I can take all my measurements without getting up several times to get a water sample, fill it to the correct level, add the drops, change to the TDS meter.The unit comes calibrated from the factory, and has been right on with the measurements compared to the chemical pH test and my other TDS meter. The kit includes a set of chemical standards to re-calibrate the unit as the sensor ages and get you back to accurate readings if needed.I really like the convenience and ease of having my pH and TDS readings in one device. Now that I have an EC measurement available, I will start to monitor this as well. The unit is well constructed and the backlight makes it easy to read. Any measurement can be static on the display with the HOLD button, so you can take the measurement and take it out of the nutrient tank to read. The only minor gripe I have is I wished the device would take a reading from all the parameters when you press the HOLD button and allow you to cycle through them out of the water, this would be a great addition for future products. But still, this device saves a lot of time over the chemical tester, which I can do monthly as a sanity check and cross check that the device is working properly.

I couldn’t get it to work with any measure other than ph. The ppm and ppm were blank and stayed that way.

This is a nice water tester. It’s simple to use and easy to read. It comes calibrated but also includes solutions to keep it calibrated over time. It’s a simple way to test various levels for plant growth. I have had no issues or concerns with it.

The good:Nice alternative to test strips for ph testing your pool. You have to get PH right before you should try to adjust chlorine, etc. Tested this meter from a sample of pool water collected in a measuring cup, against my ph chemical test and it looks pretty accurate. The other bonus is the TDS/hardness that is temperature compensated. If you test your pool water with a testing strip when the water is very cold, you will get very low readings because it's not temperature adjusted. This device tests for hardness and automatically adjust for water temperature, unlike the testing strips. No more heating up water to 70+F to get accurate readings from strips or chemicals, or have to use a decoder wheel to calculate. This device is worth it for this.The bad:None so far. It is a little annoying that it takes a little time for the ph reading to finally settle, but it doesn't take anymore time than waiting on a testing strip.Other thoughts:I'm going to update my review also after testing store brand distilled water for hardness, ph, conductivity, etc.

I got this primarily to measure total dissolved solids (TDS) in my water for carnivorous plants. It works great for that. The instructions are well writing and easy to understand. The meter comes calibrated, but also included several calibration solutions/ powders to maintain calibration. It also has a replaceable probe tip and batteries.
