Easy application
Thought I would post here about my application of Ready Seal stain(Pecan)on my cedar fence. The stain went on really nice and as the reviews have said it is a very forgiving stain. It levels out and blends nicely even when over applied. Instead of renting a sprayer I went ahead and bought a cheap (on sale) Harbor Freight airless sprayer - Avanti (AV-APS1) for $240. Along with the 20inch tip extension and an extra 50ft hose so I wouldn’t have to move the unit and cans around much. I would also recommend the Harbor freight respirator set with goggles… $20. I definitely needed them as the overspray will get to you even on a calm day. I bought the Avanti tip for finer material (311) which does NOT fit in this model sprayer so I returned it and bought a Home Depot similar tip which fit perfectly. I believe the finer tip not only helped with overspray but used less stain as well. I also bought the finer 100 filter screen for the gun handle from HF and replaced what originally came in the set. Stain was expensive ($200/5 gal) at Home Depot…I found it on Amazon on sale for $160/5 gallons. Albeit the cans came dented up pretty well from USPS. No leaks though. So on my 320LF of 6ft tall new/raw cedar standard 3 rail with cap fencing (both sides) I used less than 20 gallons. I had about 1 gallon left over. It was more work than I was expecting for my 50 years young nursing my ankle after surgery 9 weeks ago but I was able to finish the fence in ~ 5 hours working nonstop. I’m sure it would have taken me several days to roll/brush it. Glad I went ahead and bought the airless sprayer. The stain is a bit darker than I imagined but it does lighten up after time Ive heard. Time will tell on durability. I will likely apply another coat next year. Happy with the outcome.

LOOKS FANTASTIC
I reluctantly ordered this instead of going to the usual big box store and getting some. Order arrived quick and undamaged. I had about 250 Ft. of 6 'wooden fence about a year ago. It was beginning to wear and I knew I needed to finish it in order to protect the wood. I have an old cambell hausfeld airless paint sprayer that I reconditioned and decided to give it a go. the stain is fairly thin so the sprayer had no problem spraying it. I used a 517 tip and used the medium pressure setting on my paint sprayer. I had to get the initial hang of it at first because it does take some practice to get the stain to not run all of the place. I used a 4 inch paint brush to quickly brush out and runs and make the surface look smooth and consistent. I only did one side since the outside faces the woods and its in the shade. I had figured that I needed 10 gallons because of what others had said about the amounts needed for certain sqft. I found that if you spray it right I only used 5 gallons on my 250ft fence. the natural cedar color is beautiful and really made the wood stand out. I only gave it 3 stars for longevity because obviously i just did it do 2 years from now I will rate that aspect of the stain. I am going to keep the other 5 gallons for my next stain project. Maybe a new log bed?

Easiest Stain I have EVER USED!!!!
My neighbors raved about this stain for years. Finally, I had to stain a gate I made on my porch as well as my deck that I power washed. I also decided to stain a fence I put up for my dogs around my pond.Let me say... I am absolutely amazed. Not only did it go on super easy and did not streak or leave marks, but the ease of application and just the result of the stain is more than I expected. Put it this way... it was so easy to use and the results were so good that I have decided to stain my shed. If only paint was this easy, I would have no hate for painting! lol. I bought the 5 gallon and pained my deck 16'x18', my fence, 30'x6', and my gate. I still have about 1/3 of the can left, maybe more. Other stains I have had to buy another 5 gallons to do my deck. If you hate staining and get annoyed easily at the mess normal stains make, than this is the stain for you.. you will have none of that.

Easy application, excellent results
We applied this to both sides of a 740 square foot cedar fence (1480 sq feet total) and couldn't be happier with the results. The color we chose was the lightest color, described as 'light oak'. 2 days after application, the fence looks quite a bit darker than it did when natural, even when wet from the rain, though it still shows the grain and character of the wood and it's supposed to lighten up over the next couple weeks as the stain is absorbed. We used about 7 gallons for the 1480 square feet using a paint sprayer to apply, and being generous with the application. The primary features of this stain (and others like it) is that it gets absorbed and this is not paint-like. This means that you don't have to worry about streaks, even application, overspray getting on your house or car, or back rolling with a paint roller or brush. The wood will absorb only as much as it needs, streaks will even out, 2nd coats always blend right in, and overspray wipes right off. I definitely recommend getting some sort of sprayer for more than a couple hundred square feet, and an airless paint sprayer for more than 500 square feet or so, as it makes application so easy and sprayers are not that expensive.

Sealed the deck better than any other product I've used. Lasted over the harsh winter.
Used to seal and stain the deck at camp and it lasted and protected the deck over the harsh winter. This product went on easily, covered well and dried nicely.

Looks beautiful
I liked how it soaked into the wood immediately as I was spraying it on. If you had to stop spraying and then resume, it doesn't leave that streaked look. Would have given it 5 stars but I'll wait a year or two and see how it's holding up

Product 5 Stars / Shipping 1 Star
The stain is absolutely amazing, it truly is mistake proof. The shipping on the other hand leaves something to be desired. This is my second shipment that arrived all beat up. I don’t understand why they are not using a double corrugated box, properly sized to the container.

Too many canceled orders
Great product but please do better with packaging the product. Item was in two boxes but the second box was not marked fragile or this side up…Ordered same items 3 times and twice delivery was cancelled. Still waiting on refund for 1st order.

Better value at first order price.
The product is a good product sprays well and even. We used it to finish our privacy fence. Didn't like having to pay $100 more for the second 5 gal pail that was required.

Applies well.
So far I've only done a very small porch and railing. The color I purchased is Natural Light Oak. It was applied on the Sierra brown pressure treated lumber that was just starting to grey, about 3 years in the sun. It was darker than I thought it would be but so far I am happy with the color. It would I say it looks very much like that nice stained cedar color and applied very well with a brush with no lines or streaking and after about a month repels water nicely. Having said that it's now a waiting game to see if it peels or fades significantly before using it on a much bigger deck so as not to create a potentially huge job of removing it if it peels.I will update if anything worth posting changes. Will apply to larger deck this fall or next spring if it is still looking good.

This is an oil based product. Great coverage and colur consistency As with any wood protection product mske sure to sand well and clean wood for maximun absorption.

great stuff
I can't judge the longevity yet but this stain seems really good. It goes on easily and really soaks into the wood. I used a pump garden sprayer to apply the stain and then brushed it with a long-handled carwash brush. This is "Natural Cedar 512" on cedar (except for the lattice which is pressure-treated). The color is very dark when first applied but it lightens up over a few days. The photos were taken on different days with different sun which is part of the reason for the different look, but also the house deck was done a few days before the pool deck.
