Great if you don't use abuse them like steel
Ceramics are the best vegetable slicing knives you can get, if you'll baby them. That may or may not be your style. No dishwasher, no meat, no twisting, no prying, no whacking them on things, just straight cuts into vegetables and they make it a dream. Recommend the big chef knives, potentially even over this set, as ceramics are best used as vegetable preppers in my experience. The small knives work, but you might also be tempted to shave with them - fine, but don't flex the blade or hit stonefruit pits with it. Decent handle, no friction though, I have very large hands and hold them fine. They're very lightweight, so that might be a plus - I've had children use them without issue, and sharp knives that don't need force are safer, as un-intuitive as that sounds. I have nice sharp steel chef knives, and I have these. I think they sit in the niche where you want a sharp knife but don't want to refine the edge on the steel. Anything eventually needs to be sharpened, but let's see a steel knife go a year of daily use and keep an edge. Is that pointless? You decide. The manufacturer sharpens them for $12 if you mail them off, or you can do it at home. I think they're a great complement for a chef who wants lightweight, razor-sharp vegetable prep who won't abuse their knives - they chip or shatter, if you're wondering what happens when you use them outside of what they're made for.

SHARP + DURABLE
I owned a Kyocera knife nearly 8 years before it chipped!!!!! I ordered the 3 piece set (black handle + black blade) as its replacement. VERY PLEASED. I DO NOT OWN ANY OTHER KNIVES EXCEPT THESE! Tips to avoid chipping: DO NOT store or dry on the knife's end/tip. I wash mine promptly after using, dry it immediately with a towel by hand, and lay the knife down flat on a rubber pad in a drawer so they don't slide around or get knocked around. I use bamboo cutting boards with these knives. I only use these knives with vegetables. (i never use them for meat, boning, garlic pressing, or avocado pit pulling/twisting.) If you drop it on tile, use it with glass cutting boards, or torque the knife aggressively (like hacking into then twisting out an avocado pit) then yeah, it might chip. If you're looking for a VERY EFFECTIVE peeling, chopping, dicing VEGETABLE + HERB knife set, this is for you. The sharpness will impress you for years. I never had my old knife of EIGHT YEARS sharpened!!!! P.S. If you're curious, the way my old kyocera 7" knife chipped was: i left it laying flat in the bottom of a ceramic sink, layered some plates on top, and accidentally put a metal pot down too quickly on top of it. DUH. the tip of the knife chipped right off.

Great Knives
Theyโre very sharp and easily cut through soft vegetables and fruits without sticking. Theyโre better than metal blades for those food items. They are also easy to clean.

great knives!
I received these as a gift, and now they are my go-to knives. They are superb at cutting--so good that I have to keep them in a special divider in my drawer to remind me how sharp they are. I got the plastic handles because they are dishwasher safe.

Kyocera no-longer offers free sharpening service
THESE KNIVES ARE HORRIBLE. I am on my second set, .THEY CHIP frequently and I am very careful with them and do not put them in the dishwasher or store next to other metal silverware. Kyocera no-longer offers free sharpening service, true, the knives are very sharp but they became useless quite fast :( We were chopping food and huge chunk chipped off the knife and we had to DIG through all of our food to ensure someone did not ingest the piece of blade as that could be LIFE THREATENING!!!!! HIGHLY HIGHLY disappointed.

Sharp to the point
I was looking for some prepping knives and thought Iโd try these. Washed them and started prepping dinner. Cut right through a potato like butter and I saidโฆ wow this is a game changer.

I love their design and material!
This brand of knives never fail on me. Have been using their knives for years till they broke. Quite difficult to find black coloured ones and this comes in a set.
