stellar book
I have collected photo books for over 35 years. This is a new favorite. Excellent, perceptive images not just of an alien landscape, but of time, his memories and the confluence of all three. A must have for connoisseurs of fine contemporary photography and photography books. It's also twice the size, image count wise, and physically larger than the rare and expensive earlier (2005) edition.

A pretty disappointing book with uninspiring images of Iceland
A pretty disappointing book with uninspiring images of Iceland. I'm sure the photos are probably very details when blown up wall size. The intent is to show Iceland as it it was through these period warts and all. I just find the photos could have been taken by anyone. Composition is not very special, there's not humour or much juxtaposition. It's almost as if the book is taken by a non-photographer. It just comes across as uninteresting and without and sense of wonder. He's obviously a very good photographer and the book is probably exactly what he wanted down to the last detail but I found it lacking soul or compelling reasons to look at the pictures in detail. There are some photographs I like in it - the Cover photo is good and there is a good one of one of the waterfalls. Overall pretty disappointed with it.

Bellissimo
Splendido libro di un bravissimo fotografo che ha racchiuso l'essenza della vera Islanda. Consiglio vivamente anche il suo libro Broken line.
