King Lear (Manga Shakespeare)

Wow. Really impressed with this adaptation, as are two younger associates, to whom I am reading it aloud. Note that, although it's sensitively edited, this is the real text, not a modern dumbing-down. It's brought to life with vivid, dynamic illustrations and a risky, creative re-imagining of the setting. Quite an accomplishment.

This and the series it belongs to are a great way to get into the stories Shakespeare weaves without having to study English for 2 years. Graphics are excellent and charactisation true to the original. Great for kids and adults alike.

Thrilled to have found this and my daughter was delighted to have a few pictures to look at as well!

I think that the book was quite good. In some parts it was hard to understand, however. We bought the book for my GCSE English. Some parts I had never knew about before. Still, it was good, and I partly recommend it.
