Retro Cameras: The Collector's Guide to Vintage Film Photography Hardcover – April 17, 2018

I am a serious camera collector and also a collector of camera books. This is one of the best. I like the selection of cameras covered. I enjoy the format of the book, which jams tons of different cameras in to it with excellent photos and a reasonable text description. The text for each camera is somewhat limited, but hits the highlights. If you love cameras, or just enjoy the hobby of photography, you will enjoy this book.

Gave this to my mom for Christmas as she is a professional photographer as was her dad and her dad’s dad. She was delighted to see all of the vintage cameras she remembered from decades of being part of a family business. The book was sturdy, well made and beautiful to look at.

I really love this book that I am planning to bring this to Japan with me, as for I am photo shooter, as seeing alot of cameras, and not to mentioned, I like seeing old cameras, and also from the book that I received that I have some of these models that are listed. I like the size of the book, and very illustrated, and in detail.... Thank you

Author (J. Wade), covered the camera brands often ignored in most other books of simular interest.This book is an excellent reference for camera collectors and repair/service technicians. Well worth the pricefor the coffee table, book shelf or camera shop. David C.Note: the photographic images are of high quality much better than most other publications.

Bought this for a teenage granddaughter who's into vintage cameras. She seemed to like it on receipt and immediately started reading it. A good first book of this type for her at least.

Excellent book for the camera buff. My son lives and breathes "retro" cameras. He buys and repairs vintage cameras. He loves this book.

Very good book on film cameras

There are many books out there on vintage cameras, and John Wade has written several of them. This one differs from the rest in that the premise is that it seeks to instruct someone new to analog (film) photography in the use of classic cameras. Experienced photographers and collectors might not find that much new, but will be very useful to neophytes. Having said that, the book is still a nice overview. The cameras selected are from the author’s personal collection, so might be a bit quirky in what is included. What is really nice is the profusion of photographs, which highlight many of the unique features of the camera as well as the available accessories. Well worth including in the library of every serious camera collector or vintage photography enthusiast.

Most enjoyable and informative book. Purchased as a birthday present by my wife for me. I've been collecting cameras for around 2 years now and this is so useful.My only issue is the rear part of the cover was damaged along the edge although there was no damage on the postal package so assume it was damaged prior to sending. Happy to retain the book but would have sent it back if it was for someone else.

The positive side; this book has a great lay out, appealing format and book design,...it invites you to grab it.The bad side; the content. I suppose Anybody with a remote interest in vintage camera's will be looking for Nikon rangefinders, Alpa reflex camera's, medium format rangefinders from Japan,...guess what? you won't find them here. Not a single SLR by Leica too; no SL no R3,...To be frank, you'll wade through this book within an hour and put it aside. That makes it such a missed opportunity.

I bought this as a gift for a relative and they love it. The information on each camera is fabtastic. Great addition for a camera enthusiast.
