Akame ga KILL!, Vol. 1: Volume 1 (AKAME GA KILL GN)

The Capital isn't what it's cracked up to be... but if you're still venturing inside, you'd better bring an umbrella...
Akame Ga Kill is an action packed and gory filled tale to be told with several scenes of sorrow. There is an anime adaption on this series however I have been told the anime adaption deviates from the manga material. In this volume I have yet to see anything significantly different but that does not mean I did not enjoy this book. Far from it!Our tale ensues with our young protagonist Tatsumi, a young lad on his journey to the capital to make a name for himself and earn some money to be able to help his village back home recover from the state of poverty. Once he reaches the capital, he sets his goal on joining the capitals army but is denied enrollment due to being assertive and refusing to comply to the regulations required. However all hope is not lost...A young woman stumbles across Tatsumi and begins to reassure his placement in the army as a higher up... For a small fee. In this instance, it shows how gullible some of the countryside folk can be inside the capital and truly can not comprehend the misguided behavior of its people. The speculation of the capital is certainly not what it is sought to be...Upon being swindled, Tatsumi is left to wonder the capital and think of another process of achieving his goal before meeting a new ray of hope when a member of a rich successful family discovers him on the streets. Skeptical of being burnt once by the capitals community, he reluctantly accepts their offer for shelter and does what he can to assist them to thank them for their kind gesture. That is until Night Raid show up, a small elite force of the liberation army set to riddle out the very foundation of the higher up officials that contribute to the capitals corruption. Upon their assault on the family that gave him shelter, Tatsumi draws his sword and is ready to put his life on the line to protect the only people of the capitals community to show him kindness until he is once again, shown the corruption of the capitals ways...Akame Ga Kill Vol.1 is a large 240 page manga that is spread across 4 chapters accompanied with excellent artwork, fantastic expressions, thorough character development and superb dialogue. I picked this up after watching the anime adaption and thoroughly enjoying the absolute thrill ride it is, hoping the manga would be no less. I am not disappointed! I already acknowledge that the manga will deviate from the anime at some point and I look forward to it but here in this volume it is almost identical.Akame Ga Kill is potentially the best anime I have watched this year thus far and we're not even half way through what has been a great 2015! (I am aware Akame Ga Kill aired in 2014, it just wasn't till spring this year did I get round to it) I strongly urge anyone that enjoys a gory trip filled with hardships, epic battles, comedy and even story progression from the opposite side (The Captial's Forces) to give this series a shot. Whether it be watching the anime or reading the manga. I have had a blast and can't wait to start volume 2!

One of the better graphic novels I have read recently.
Loved the anime and enjoying the manga. It seems to be expensive everywhere to buy this series of graphic novels. So please don't be put off by the price.
