The coins are very well molded, the bizzare shape is actually period correct for old hand minted coins of the timeOnto the gems themselves, I did not get any red ones but it seems like its a random assortment, the above pic shows the variety and sets I got, I did not know they would come in all shapes and colors, I figured it would be one color per style, im glad it wasnt though personally.These come in a quite shallow plastic box, like flat almost, I dont know how they fit all of them in there, but it did its job of getting them to me just fine, I will likely use it for sticker sheets storage as its likely well suited to protecting stacks of papers or pens maybeThese do not come in those bags! I purchased the drawstring cotton sacks from another Amazon seller because gems and coins in little drawstring pouches just feels more piratey to me.All in all, I love these little gems. For the price its probably the best deal for a kid or artsy person who wants gemstones for arts and crafts or play.They sound really nice too when you clink them around in your hands, they sound like glass, so this is likely a “harder” plastic, may hold up better against scratches? When it comes to pirate coins that kids can touch or take home, I prefer the “real coin” look and feel. However, these types of “pirate treasures,” made in China, work well for coins and gems that are just in scenes. I usually get a treasure chest, then hot glue these gems and coins onto one side of a large pillowcase, put a large pillow in it, and carefully place it in the treasure chest. I then scatter loose gems/coins around to make it look like the pirate's chest is full of treasure. It takes more than 180 pieces to do that, though. :)In essence, these pirate gems and coins are like most other brands—plastic but “realistic” looking when viewed from afar. They are great prop pieces or party favors in pirate-themed events. I like that instead of coming in a plastic bag, these come in an actual hard case.

The coins aren’t quite heavy enough so they float a bit but these are still fun in the pool.

This is a fun box of gems and ancient coin replicas for kids. Great to use as treasure that can be found or as special prizes for games/awards, etc. The gems themselves are bright, colorful and fun and have a good weight to them. I've not actually tried throwing them into a pool to see if they would sink, but I think they would. The coins are hard plastic and of good quality (not sure these would sink?) It would have been great if these looked more like modern-day coins, however, as kids may associate them more with "treasure" and money. Overall though, this is a great quality pack of gems/coins at an affordable price. Would definitely recommend.
