Peter O'Toole: The Definitive Biography
A**R
A series of calamitous adventures that make up a life, a person and an actor.
I have never wanted to read a biography before. After reading a snippet of the contents in a news article I decided that I would try this one and from the outset I found this to be funny (better than some TV comedies) and very engrossing. I had to keep reading to find out what events happened next. I would describe this a series of what are sometimes calamitous adventures. I was surprised by where Peter O' Tool grew up and some of his experiences when he was young. This book does have it's serious moments and it is an interesting insight into the life of an actor who from the beginning seemed to really live life to the full and then some.

an appropriate epitaph to a great Acyor.
I was a great admirer of O'Toole's work. I knew of his history as a wild one and this biography has done nothing to diminish that admiration. My one criticism of the book was the overstating of his drinking etc. my wife worked with him for some months and found him absolutely charming and not at all difficult to work with. A stickler for the best yes! Like us all in the business, not every role suits us. O'Toole made his misjudgements but he remained the consumate performer for all that.

well worth the read
What an endearing character! What a talent, rare and never to be equalled in our 'rough-spoken world' We will never see his like again.

A human story
A brilliant read about one of our best liked actors, here remembered worts and all with affection. Some of the stories clearly apocryphal.

Loitering With Intent Volume 3 it is not, but the final chapter nonetheless.
In the absence of O'Toole's third volume of autobiography, author Robert Sellers has taken up the task of finishing O'Toole's story. It's a wonderful read and the semi-tragic, towering talent that Peter O'Toole was is vividly brought to life. Tinged with the right amount of poignancy the book conveys that the raconteur's wit was, at times, a valiant and largely successful means of masking his insecurity and fear. Peter O'Toole was a great, great actor. He was also a deeply flawed man.

Wonderful bio - I bought two - one for me and one for my friend as we are huge fans of Peter O'Toole. This was an import as well. Can not find this book in Canada. Had also had the bio on Daniel Day-Lewis which was super as well. Thanks so much from me and my friend!
