What is reality.
I have read all her books and this one is kind of weird, kind of strange. Is there a simple explanation? Superb ending

A. Story in a story
I've read all of Torey Haydens non fiction books and thoroughly enjoyed them, but once I got into this I could not put it down! It tells a story from several points of view about a messed up child and the events which led to it, but also throughout the story runs a second story, written by one of the characters in the main story. It is gripping reading although it took me a couple of chapters to get into it, and has left me with chills running down my spine. I would recommend this book to people who have enjoyed her other work but also to people requiring a book about family relationships and how one event can affect so many people in so many ways.I would give it 5 stars were it not so slow to get into. It took me almost a week to read the first few chapters then I read the rest of the book in just one day!

As a first novel I wasn't sure!
Used as I have been to reading Tory Hayden's other books about her own experiences as a teacher/counsellor, I found her first novel a bit more challenging. At times I found the basic plotline difficult to follow but the book was gripping never-the-less. I stuck at it to the end and was glad I did as the picture became clearer and made sense then.A good enough read but I prefer her more autobiographical style.

Disappointing
I desperately wanted to like this novel by one of my favourite writers. I have read and loved her real life renditions of children she has taught. But sadly this book does not compare at all. I was either bored to tears or embarrassed for Ms. Hayden. It's so amateurish. I ended up speed reading and then skipping huge sections (those in italics) because the whole thing was too far fetched. The only reason I gave 2 🌟s is because I liked Conor and his cats.

Did not disappoint fantastic book
I love Torey Hayden as an author as I find all of her books very touching and this one did not disappoint. I found this book longer than her usual books but it made no difference to me and I was unable to put the book down until I finished it.

This was a great book to read, I loved the way it was written and the ending was not expected! I recommend this to anyone who enjoys Torey Hayden's books!
