Love Colored Pencils: How to Get Awesome at Drawing: An Interactive Draw-in-the-Book Journal

So far I'm digging this workbook. I have advanced cancer and recently developed lymphedema in my legs from radiation. I'm only 35 and this has made it where I camt work much or really get around much in general. In my quest to find new hobbies and ways to pass my time I came across this workbook to teach yourself coloring techniques and drawing. I like the easy instruction, full color pictures, tips, and practice space in the book. I love that it covers everything from color use and coloring/shading techniques to choosing supplies. The art in the book is reflective of the artists personal preference. Happy drawings of women, nature, and animals. Regardless of your personal style you can customize and make this your own and learn useful information. I will try to update when I'm further into the book with my thoughts and progress. I think this is one of those you'll get what you put in to it and I'm hoping to get some awesome drawing skills.

And goes into detail on faces and individual eyes, noses, chins ears and even eyebrows! Talks about color, teaches you to use the color wheel, which was invaluable to me. Tells you about difference in pencils and what to expect from them. Starts with basics and goes all the way to get you going!! I actually use mine as a reference book and go back to it over and over! If you are a pencil colorist this book is invaluable!

Loved the instructions on shading

Excellent book! This book is extreamely easy to follow and learn from. The first 46 pages teaches about tools and techniques. The next 60 pages deal with the coloring of female faces, including skin, eyes, noses, mouths as well as hairstyles. The last section, 22 pages, gives instruction on the coloring of owls, leopards and 3 different flowers. The book gives picture step-by-step instructions and lots of space to practice. I love that color pencil names and color swatches are provided for each item to color, with instructions on the proper sequences of use of each pencil. A very valuable, enjoyable book.

I have a large collection of pencils but I am not an artist so I never really got into the adult coloring craze until I bought this book. It is basic, straight foward in its explanations and suggestion in what colors to use as well as what techniques to use on their drawing pages. The drawing pages paper is quality and it makes coloring a lot easier. My sister remmened this particular book because Dover publications publishes great FYI books. I highly recommend this book if you are a newbie to coloring and want to feel like someone is holding your hand.

Easy to follow, and very useful. I love everything about it

****ALERT*** The author only states that she uses Faber-Castell pencils. I feel she should have specified that dry watercolor pencils were used in all of the examples . This is really important when she states to use a dry ear bud to spread the pigment. I have deducted 2 stars, since dry watercolor pencils perform very differently than oil or wax based pencils. By looking at the pictures of the pencils , it is Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer pencils being used. Different results will be obtained if one is using Faber-Castell Polychromos or any other oil or wax based pencils. Watercolor pencils tend to be softer, and since water soluble must be treated differently during and after artwork is completed.************ I still love this book. My results with Prismacolor Premier and/or Lyra Rembrandt pencils aren’t exactly the same as the author’s. Still learned a lot. I had it coil bound for less than $5 at Office Depot to make it lay flat. Did sacrifice a little of the designs close to the spine as picture shows. Not enough to cause problems though.

I bought this for my 6 year old daughter for her "summer school art." She loves anything art related and can sit and draw for hours. She is self motivated in this area for sure. I am amazed at the quality of art she produces based on the mini lessons on different colored pencil techniques this book addresses. She has learned some basics of blending with colored pencils. I think it is crucial to have high quality pencils. We use prismacolor and her art turns out beautiful.

Facilement accessible et excellent outil pour ceux qui débutent avec les crayons de couleur. À partir de comment tenir son crayon pour différents résultats et comment superposer les couleurs. Quels crayons devrais je utiliser pour dessiner différentes couleurs pour: la peau, les yeux, la bouche, les cheveux ou encore les fleurs ou encore la texture de fourrure ou de plumes, tout est là! J'aurais bien aimé que le livre soit en français mais avec les images tout est clair et les pages d'exercices sont bien pratiques. Je recommande fortement ce livre car il est complet sans être compliqué.

Cherchant une solution rapide pour mettre un peu plus de créativité dans mon quotidien, j’ai choisi de me mettre au coloriage.J’ai choisi ce livre car j’aime beaucoup ses illustrations pleines de vie et de couleurs. Les dessins sont très beaux et variés.Etant débutante, cette méthode d’apprentissage me convient parfaitement.En effet, elle allie aussi bien des leçons techniques bien expliquées, images à l’appui et les mises en pratiques.Cela permet de bien progresser et c’est très motivant.Ce que j’aime bien aussi c’est la variété des images à colorier. Le choix est large : chevelures, parties du visage comme e nez, les yeux.., fleurs, animaux…L’artiste Vivian Wong est très douée.C’est impressionnant de voir toutes les possibilités de nuances et de précisions qu’offrent à un dessin les crayons de couleurs.Comme je comprends bien l’anglais, la lecture des textes est facile pour moi.Néanmoins, pour quelqu’un qui ne parle pas bien anglais ou qui ne le parle pas, les pas à pas peuvent être difficiles à suivre.J’espère que mon commentaire et mes photos vous aident à faire votre choix.Si c’est le cas, cela me ferait plaisir de le savoir.

Muy buenos estos libros de pintura

Para ello tienes explicaciones e imágenes visuales y luego te hace hacer ejercicios dentro del mismo libro para practicar y así aprender. El libro lo encuentro de buena calidad y los ejercicios muy útiles. También si quieres practicar más veces que solo lo que sale en el libro, puedes coger papel aparte y practicar más.Te enseña primero las nociones básicas y formas de colorear con lápices de colores.Luego un poco de práctica y formas de conseguir texturas, profundidad, luz, mezclas, sombras, etc...Luego personas: ojos, narices, labios, dientes, bocas divertidas. Pieles de diferentes tonalidades. Pelo, y diferentes peinados.Después animales: Buho, Leopardo. Y para terminar, Flores.Dude un poco en comprarlo porque viene en idioma Inglés pero me alegro mucho de haberlo comprado. Realmente no ha sido ningún problema porque sin saber inglés ya entiendes la gran mayoría de los ejercicios de forma visual, y el texto que quieras traducir al español, es tan fácil como hacer una foto al texto y traducirlo con google traductor fotos.El papel del libro y la encuadernación la encuentro de muy buena calidad.El libro entero me ha gustado mucho y me está siendo muy útil. Lo que más me ha gustado es que explica muy bien como colorear personas (personalmente me interesaba mucho eso en particular).Creo que es un libro muy bueno para aprender a colorear y lo veo adecuado para todo tipo de público por lo que se lo recomendaría a cualquiera que quiera aprender a colorear o quiera mejorar su coloración.
