Evo Labs E-U35SF 3.5" SATA/IDE USB2 External Hard Drive Enclosure Mains Powered

My pc recently decided to throw in the towel and although I use backups I still had a lot of photographs stored on the hard drive which I was concerned about losing. I ordered this unit having seeing other none powered cases and realising that particularly with pc internal drives, a usb powered case would be insufficient.The unit arrived and after a little guesswork ( the one downside is the lack of clear instructions) I wired the unit up. I am by no means tech-savvy but all the connections I required were included and it really was quite straightforward. The unit started up, connected to my laptop via the included usb and I was able to retrieve my data.Being usb, the connection was quite slow as the hard drive was full but this was only a minor point and to be expected with so many files to read, I was just glad it worked.

I'm a bit of a luddite, but with a friends assistance, did some work on my PC to revamp it. This left the existing drive spare, so I fitted it into this, very easily and now have a spare drive to store movies, pictures or music on.

I have about 10 of these units I have used for several years. I do a lot of video and use them for off line storage with 1, 2, 4 TB drives with both MAC and PC'sVery robust and well made.
