The necklace came shiny with even color, for the most part. However, it does have some faint darker marks on one side, like scrapes of some kind. They are not very noticeable but they are present. The necklace came in a smart way: a little bag that separates the chain from the charm, so that they won't tangle. The words and engravings are very clear. The necklace charm is a little more squat (wider) than the pictures suggest. It has a good weight to it, but isn't overly heavy.
