Wehrmacht Combat Helmets 1933–45 (Elite)

An important reference work - especially for the beginning collector.
Although the back cover blurb purports this to be a "masterclass" on the identification and collecting of Wehrmacht combat helmets; that may be a little bit of an overstatement. What it is is a very good overview of the German helmet. Although a very slim volume (unexpectedly so) this book contains a great deal of information. I think that it provides a great service for the beginning collector in avoiding the pitfalls of pricey helmets that have been tampered with or are outright fakes. The author is an experienced collector and dealer who has an excellent website filled with additional information as well as some very choice offerings. I would recommend this book to the novice for guidance and enjoyment for the experienced. It's far from exhaustive but, nonetheless, a really fine reference that I'm happy to have on my reference shelf. I recommend it.combathelmets.blogspot.com

worthwhile for a small book!
The book deals with the development, construction and historical significance of the various German helmets produced and used during Third Reich period between 1933 and 1945.Although condensed in comparison to several other highly detailed monographs on the subject, I found the content exceptionally interesting and well written with enough details to please but the most discerning reader. The text is pocketed with images depicting the various types of helmets worn by the combat services and the pictures are detailed enough to discern the subtle differences between differing helmets models. Towards the center of the book are several pages that show colour plates. A small section on various decals used on the helmets is also included, as is a section on helmet liners, their construction and major differences. Of particular interest is the section dealing with camouflage and methods used to paint and weather the helmets.I enjoyed the book and would recommend this text to anyone interested in this field. For the price, it is worthy of a place in the bookcase.Images 5/5Information 5/5General Set-out 5/5Readability 5/5

Beginners
Good book for beginners. One unique feature is the ID maker marks of the split pins. I’ve yet to see this anywhere else. Otherwise move on.

Wehrmacht Combt Helmets
The book goes direct to the subject of German helmets. It also gives additional info regarding the other parts that make up the helmets. Liners, straps, etc and who made them, when, where, material used, etc. A very outstanding updated and needed reference book.

A lost of money
I thought it would have more technical information on helmets as weight, etc, but it did not. I found more information on the internet. I did not like. Carlos, Argentina

Packed with information - a must buy!
I've read much larger (and much more expensive!) books on the subject than this, but this compact book literally packs relevant information in to an amazing degree right down to the minutiae of the chin-straps! From the pre-war aluminium chin strap buckles and liner frames to the improved war-time steel hardware, paint types, decals, camouflage finishes - it's all here. I can't recommend this book enough. Essential for helmet enthusiasts!
