Balloon Mapping Kit

Everything came as promised, and the shipping was pretty fast. The kit includes everything you need (except for the camera and the helium) to get your balloon mapping / photography started.

The PublicLab Balloon Mapping kit collects a large amount of materials that you could, if you have a week, assemble yourself for more money.I found the pre-wound spool of string most helpful. As a kite enthusiast, purchasing the raw spool and winding it yourself takes a bit of time. Finding all the rubber bands and swivels, etc can be done, but you will pay more for large amounts of those small items --you don't need 100 #64 rubber bands, I promise.This kit will simplify your life and get you flying faster.The cost of helium is going up, but the balloon is included, and it's easy to adapt the kit for use with a kite, such as the Public lab EZ cut delta.The camera is not included, but I find that searching Canon powershots on ebay can return a usable camera (one with continuous fire mode) available for about $40.Assembling the soda bottle rig is a snap; I'm wondering when PublicLab is going to invent a lightweight 3d printed picavet, though.I have some ideas about assembling one from a metal strap and some 1/4" nuts and bolts....but I suppose you'll have to stay tuned to PublicLab.org to learn. :)Scott
