Does this keyboard have a cap lock key that lid up?

Yes, the CAPS LOCK key does, indeed, have a green light that lights up when activated...on the upper left corner of the key.

does the mk545 have the same bs lag and connectivity issues that the mk520 seems to be having?

I've had two MK520 sets for something like 10 years, one for work (very heavy use) and one for home, and they are both still going strong. The batteries last forever too. The only issues I've ever had is with a particular laptop or computer needing software updates, which always fixed the issue (and I use them on USB 3 ports - the only ports avail on modern computers). The unifying receiver is awesome, and I actually only use one in my laptop, having paired both sets to it, as I take the laptop back and forth between work and home seamlessly. I will be buying this 545 as replacement for work, because a contractor broke one of the angle adjustment legs on the keyboard. I'm excited that the 545 has an upgraded mouse over the 520.
