Superb pruner - saves the hands! Replacement blades available from Teho Tool Company!
WOW - is this the most helpful tool in my arsenal. Yes! Carpal tunnel wrist and elbow surgery meant the hand was better but still difficult to do a lot of pruning and cutting without some numbness or pain. But this is a piece of cake to use. Cuts larger branches or larger sized objects by doing smaller cuts til you are done. Nice light on the front when you use it and has a protective blade cover. Yes, directions are not in English but it ain't rocket science - plug it in to charge and the light in the handle glows red. It glows green when it's fully charged. Every hour or so of use, plug it in and charge it. Well worth waiting for from overseas. No idea why Home Depot doesn't sell it in the US. My favorite yard tool ever!UPDATE- December 2016 - Broke my last blade and couldn't find a replacement blade for a Ryobi shear. I noticed the Teho Company sells a very similar (identical!) rechargeable shear (for less than $40). Anyway, I called them at the number below and ordered a replacement blade hoping it would work. It's identical! It was $5 plus S&H $15. I should have ordered 2 blades. The listed phone number for Teho customer service: 1-877-769-8346. I have no affiliation with any body mentioned here - just a consumer. Still love my shears!

Looks like Teho replacement blades are the way to go for ...
1. Forget about the Japanese language manual, just throw it away.2. Looks like Teho replacement blades are the way to go for $5 each $15S&H, I think that I will order a dozen extras3. At sometime in the future, the lithium battery should die. Looks to me that there are no replacements available, so you take that risk4. Works fantastic.5. I can cut any fresh branch that I can fit in between the jaws. For a big branch, I have had to make a slice, then followed by another slice...no prob.6. This tool saves your hand muscles from arthritis later in life7. Pricey but well worth the savings in "Gold"8. I highly recommend it9. The compact fit is easy to manipulate.10. There is a squeeze trigger behind the real trigger, it operates the two lights and it is a "safety". Then when you pull the trigger with the safety pulled, the jaws close. Makes an annoying clicking sound each time you squeeze the safety. You can keep the safety squeeze and do multiple trigger pulls. All in all, it is for child safety. Good feature. Cheery bright colors will make your day!

arrived not working
a number of folks highlight the fact that the instruction manual is in Japenese. I purchased an English version thru allusermanuals.com, but it contained no information on trouble shooting the device. mine locked into a closed configuration after charging, with the light on but it would not reset to allow curring. I've seen this twice and I'm returning the Kyocera product once again - it is not a Ryobi product as noted by others!

Course I thought it terrible that Mobil supplied the North Vietnamese with fuel doing ...
Got them for the wife...She pruned 3 peach trees, 3 apple trees, and 3 pear trees and several butter fly bushes....Total of 3 recharges...I ordered another blade from Japan but can't find the battery anywhere...Its darn near paid for itself already and if it kerpoops at the end of our growing season it will have paid for itself and earned another star....Weird ryobi sticks their name on it and its only for the overseas market...And no parts available or directions thru them....Course I thought it terrible that Mobil supplied the North Vietnamese with fuel doing the Viet Nam war....I guess that was a whole lot worse....Dave....US Army Sgt , CIB, PH......

Too big for small hands
I got this to ease arthritic pain in my thumb joint largely brought upon by years of gardening with regular pruning shears (Corona, Fiskars, and other brands). I thought this would help, but that was not the case. Because I have small hands, I still have to stress my thumb joint just wrapping my hand around the thick handle to grip it. I've tried to reposition my hand in different ways, but that was very awkward. I also was frustrated by how slow it was to make each cut. For me, I'll still use it for pruning small roses in the late fall, but that's about it. (For those of you with small hands--lady size small in gloves--the best solution I found was FINALLY finding a small hand "pocket pruner" from Gardener's Supply Company which helps eliminate stress on the joint).

Reliable and ergonomic. Fast battery recharge.
Excellent product: reliable, many cuts per charge, quick to recharge and comfortable to use. I can make a single cut faster by hand, but get more done in 10 min using this tool because I don’t have to pause when my grip gets tired. I use it constantly as I planned in the orchards, and find it useful in dozens of other situations in gardens and prairie situations. The movable blade snaps out to sharpen or replace. ******* To remove the blade, flip the protective cover so it surrounds the blades. The two legs of the movable blade can be pulled forward off the hub the legs surround.* To insert the blade place its tip into the protective cover. The prongs of the blade then straddle a small hub or spool, allowing you to push the blade in toward the handle. It will fit loosely.* Flip the protective cover back toward the handle, so the tool is ready to use. Depress the two “on” switches to move the blade and lock it in place.

well made and easy to use
HI-It is well made, nice size, well balance to hold. fast charging, nice to have a light on the front, like the protected coving on the blades, like the charging light that tells you when it is fully charge and the like on charging plug. The only thing that could make it better is a bigger battery to make it cut faster and easier. It last a long time depending on what you are cutting. I tried some of the products in the picture to cut and PCV took a few times to cut through,a bigger battery would make it faster. Over a great product will keep for cutting small tree branches, etc. If they come out with one with double or more battery power, at the same price I would buy it. Great product over all for the price. PS they need to send product info sheet in English.
