Dave Combs has shared his wonderfully inspiring story of how he created a beautiful and soothing instrumental piece, Rachael's Song - a song that is so moving that it remained in my head as I read his book. His tells of the great and perhaps unexpected success he experienced, although with some delays over time, in bringing this song to the public to enjoy and love. As I learned how each individual step he took fell into place, as he pursued getting help in publishing, arranging, accompanying and producing the CDs and cassettes and in marketing them, I could be easily convinced that he had laid out an overall "masterplan." But Dave sincerely and humbly admits that it was not his plan - but "The Master's Plan" that made everything fall into place so nicely. And the story continued, as Dave's later songs and CD productions brought further success to him in sharing other peaceful compositions to the public to enjoy and love. This book by a very talented composer/musician and a man of great faith is highly recommended for all who love the peaceful sound of meaningful, meditative music and the joy it brings.

Just when I thought I couldn't love a song more, Touched by the Music gives the reader the backstory to "Rachel's Song" and provides an even deeper richness to this gorgeous piece. Reading the book is like having your own, personal conversation with Dave Combs. I was struck by the author's sincere heart - filled with gratitude for each and every step of his musical journey. I highly recommend this book for musicians, performers, composers, and all who have been touched by music. "Rachel's Song" is timeless, hauntingly beautiful, and a joy to listen to and to play. My husband and I have known Dave and Linda for many, many years and have bought all his music. However, it was fascinating to me to see how "Rachel's Song" was almost a mistake that caught on. I loved reading about how Gary Prim took Dave's music and put all the parts together. It is a wonderful story as many have written about perseverance, but also a great story about Dave and Linda and their strong religious faith and faith in each other and partnership in all areas. I'd be remiss not to mention how great Linda's book "A Long Good-bye" is.

"Touched by the Music" is a great story and it is told by a gifted songwriter and musician. I have owned the CD Rachael's Song for over 20 years and it is still on the playlist on my iPhone,. Dave's story is so touching and it has been great to read the history behind his creation. Once I started reading the book I could not put it down finishing it at 2:00am in the morning.Clark Tesh
