I suffer from depression and anxiety from time to time, I've been in therapy and I've taken perscription medication for both with mixed results and because of the hit-and-miss nature of those results as well as the increasing financial expense, I decided to search for alternative solutions. After doing extensive research I decided on Kava Kava because it provided immediate and as needed relief as opposed to something I had to take everyday for weeks before feeling a difference. For me anxiety and depression go hand in hand so though I know Kava isn't marketed specifically towards depression it does affect it for me. From the first time I tried Kava I noticed the difference. Just today I was experiencing extreme irritability, aggression, overstimulation and social anxiety as well as depressive symptoms; at one point I broke out in frustrated and desperate sobs because I was so overwhelmed. Afterward I took two Kava, and within a half hour felt myself coming back to a more stable baseline. Within an hour or two I was completely mellow and calm. Couple hours later I was ready for a nap. It's a great product, and for me more practical and cost effective than paying co-pays and prescription fees for antidepressants and anxiety meds that I have to take every day and deal with scary side-effects.

I tried the two other top brands of Kava Kava on Amazon but they did nothing. But this brand I used before and then recently. I can tell you without a doubt it works as good for my anxiety as my 1mg of Ativan. Kicks in in 10 minutes. Takes my Ativan 20-30 mind to kick in. Ativan doesn't help with my restless leg shaking from my anxiety but this Kava Kava stops most of the leg shaking. I barely have the urge to shake. I am curious how the other one from Happy Camper with the yellow and red label is compared to this one. I definitely like using this one on the days i don't use my Ativan. I only get 15 Ativan pills a month.

Last few days of taking these, I found myself needing a nap in the middle of the day.. usually that's not the case for me. But I think something else I took may have potentiated the kava ...when I skip that supplement I feel more clear headed I may start taking this kava before bedtime instead. Also, 2 capsules = 900 mgs which may be a tad strong. Might be better to start with just one instead . I will update later if I notice anything different.

I have been purchasing this kava kava root through Amazon for two months now. I just ordered it for the 4th time. I have a non-contagious disorder which is extremely painful and also causes major insomnia problems. Usually I take the capsules 2 at a time when I am taking my medicines for pain beyond the usual levels. It hasn't stopped my insomnia, but I definitely feel better. My overall impression after a couple months is that this is one of those things that I would notice the efficacy of most by stopping its use. In other words, since I notice that it makes me feel better, I'm guessing I would feel quite a bit worse by stopping so that is something I'm not real inclined to do. Maybe later. Since I have Amazon Prime, the price is great & the 2-day shipping is free. The effects claimed regarding this herbal remedy are so helpful to the person taking it that I can't imagine why a person wouldn't want to try it. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. It has been more like a couple years now that I have been taking this herb with my pain medicine. I can only repeat what I said before. It helps. That's the bottom line.

I have tried many brands of this product. This one seems to have little to no effect. Might work for some. I took way more than the recommended amount. Still no effect. Won’t be purchasing again.

For those that are saying this stuff doesn't do anything it has to be the reverse tolerance thing or something (gets stronger as you take it sort of like anti depressants and other meds where you have to take for 2 weeks). For me it was immediate and the 2 capsule recommendation absolutely WRECKED me, I was floating (very euphoric and relaxed) but could still think and function somehow- probably was not ok to drive though. The feeling was like I had taken 6mg of xanax or klonopin (I have an anxiety disorder and have been prescribed both). I prefer kava to prescriptions, the side effects are far fewer. For those who don't feel immediate results, try taking before bed for a week and see if the reverse tolerance kicks in. If you're lucky like me, 2 capsules will annihilate any stress and make you completely ready to watch netflix and melt into the couch.
