Easy to Set Up
Bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift. He has it mounted in the garage and it is working great. It was easy to mount, provides lights and the magnifier makes it much easier when handling small parts and tools.

Fits the Bill Nicely
I built a new workbench for model building, but the room lighting is not up to snuff. Actually, I built two benches; one for the models and one for electronics work. Anyway, I needed a second light for the model bench, and this fits nicely. It provides excellent, bright, white light that does not wash out the colors. The 8 diopter lens offers good magnification for delicate work. And, yes, it needs to be close to the work, by design.I find these much easier to use than the headband styles.I find that the lamp I received to be quite well built and very sturdy. It places well where I put it and stays there.

The broken clip actually allows the light to fit better in the remaining 2 clips and holds the bulb ...
Came with 1 of 3 light holding clips broken. Once taken apart to get the broken part out, the light/plastic housing is not correct. Not sure which is wrong. I assume the light is a standard bulb so that would make the plastic housing wrong or made for a different light bulb. The clips as mounted are stressed to clamp around the light. The broken clip actually allows the light to fit better in the remaining 2 clips and holds the bulb better. Once I figured that out I left the broken clip out. The light works well and stays where placed. Over all I am happy. I may have a different story if/when I have to replace the bulb and have trouble finding one that fits. I expect and hope that will be sometime down the road.

100% Satisfaction My Ass!
The hinges were very creaky and difficult to move so I tried oiling them with W-2-40 and now they cannot be screwed to hold their position. Because I didn't realize this problem until after my 30 days return policy the company just continues to ignore my problem even though they guarantee a 100% satisfaction. Clearly, they care more about their profit than their customer satisfaction.

makes a good desk lamp
If your looking for magnification avoid this magnifying lamp my lens seems distorted and the placement of the florescent lamp causes a glare on the lens. those two issues combine to give you 3'' usable lens.the factory also over torqued the lamp cover and cracked it

I can see
I find the magnifier very useful in my day to day life. The "fine print" is now readable. Thank you.

Good Quailty
I've only had it for a few days, but I think I am going to like this product. I wasn't sure what to expect cause the swing-arm lamps vary by huge amounts in price. So I took a shot and went for the middle. I really like the table mounting bracket. I've had experience with two others in my life, and both were substandard. This one is really sturdy and grips the table like it was molded into the table. The internal springs on the hinges work well, as I can put it into any position and the lamp will hold that position. It came with a "day-light" bulb, which puts out a light that illuminates really well, but yet its like you can't see the light. Its hard to explain. I'm satisfied with the craftsmanship as it doesn't seem flimsy. There is a protective cover over the bulb and another cover over the magnifier. The pivot for the actual lamp head has an adjustable compression knob. The cord is about 6 ft long and has really nice medium insulation and plug. I would almost put this in an executive office.

made in China...
I was hoping for better finishing quality, but it does look really solid, should last for long time. I'm not sure if it a true 8-diopter or not, it does provide clean magnify at center region, but not all the way to the edge. Not bad.. will update once I used it more..
