Professional 2-in-1 Spring-Arm Magnifier Lamp - 5" Lens - 5-Diopter - Daylight Fluorescent

I purchased this light for gun cleaning and other meticulous tasks.Pro's:- light is bright and easily maneuvered into place.- strong magnification*- easy to install.Con's:-* The magnification is too strong for me and requires me to hold the object close to the glass. I have to position my head and distance just right in order to use both eyes and see what I'm looking at. Often times I am just closing one eye when using the magnifier so to not get that dizzy feeling. lol- The armature is not high quality but for medium to low use I suspect it will last me quite a while.- The friction hinged protective plastic glass cover is a useful dust cover but I suspect the friction will loosen over time causing it to be floppy.- There is a friction adjustment for the light (to hold it in place), some weaker folks may end up using pliers. It feels a bit flimsy but it does work properly.In a nutshell, the price is ok, the light is bright, the magnifier is strong, and it will probably hold up to medium/light use. If this is you, buy it.

I`ve been using various swing-arm lamps with magnifiers for 20 years and this one is the strongest, easiest to to adjust, brightest for the amount of heat it produces and biggest; 38" reach, I have ever owned. The clamp is the best yet. the articulation is easy to move and STAYS PUT. The 5" lens is flawless. Some people will have trouble with a lens this size because it`s so wide that their interpupillary distance gives a blurred image at the edge of the lens from disturbing their eye dominance. If you close one eye the image is the same from all areas of the glass; clear and equally magnified. I have only one complaint with this lamp... although the finish is perfect,. I like black way more than white. With black you ZEN it out; do not see it unless you want to use it, like not hearing a chiming clock unless you want to know what time it is.... I like this big neat thing so maybe I won`t mind noticing it hovering over my drafting table. ...The daylight light is OK but some might like the pinkish warmth of a glowing filament better. I for one do but, hate the heat that comes with it.

I bought this lamp for use while building scale models. For the cost, this is definitely a great asset to any model builder. Not only does it provide me with directed light, but the magnifier glass can be useful too. The only minor complaint would be while trying to get the magnifier very close the model it does not provide a lot of room for your tools sticking up out of your hand. Generally I wear a magnifying visor anyhow so this is only a minor issue for me. The light is bright white which helps for seeing true colors. You'll need to find a good place to mount the light so it'll be out of the way and have room for it to fully articulate to your needs. That being said, it does fold up on itself for the most part and takes up very little real estate. Regarding articulation, it moves very easily and is sturdy. You can make small adjustments to the light's position and it will hold in place. The springs that support the arm are heavy duty and it seems to be solidly built.

I bought this to help me see closer as I did some soldering. Was working very well only for about a month and then one day it just did not turn on. I removed to find out the electronics component board was burned. Even the wires were melted. Now i have to repair or send back.

Tried several, love this one!Advantages:* Adequate magnification with enough focal length beneath the light to maneuver tools such as stitch ripper, beading needles, cuticle trimmer. Others had focal length too short to use a stitch ripper under the light. (I could not keep the fabric in focus without hitting the ripper against the lens; the ripper is only about four inches long.)* The light is enclosed in a plastic case, protects the bulb from breaking due to bumps - lucky for me since I bumped it early on with a clumsy effort at adjusting the position.* Cord matches the lamp color - another one had an exposed black cord on a white lamp.* Streamlined attractive appearance with sleek lines - another had ridges where this one has a rounded smooth flow.* Lid stays up regardless of lamp position, snaps open and closed easily - another one had an unbelievably annoying lid that had no tension or snap hold and fell shut anytime the lamp was angled downward.* Snug hold on position adjustments - another fell out of position no matter how much I tightened adjusters.Plastic housing and bulb cover.Came well packed, clean, and ready to use. Great unit, my favorite.

I thought this light was great until today.. I had been using it with no problem. Luckily I only turn it on if I am doing something right under it because today I smelled something burning. Turns out part of the bulb turned back and the plastic cover started to melt and smoke. I wouldn't recommend this product for your safety! I'm scared to think what would have happened if I left my room for a little bit with the light on!

I ordered for one of my service techs for a wireless tech center. He needs the light due to the way the tech room is set up. He used it for 45 days and then the lamp stopped working. Problem is the bulb is not replaceable. So instead of just replacing the bulb I have to purchase another one. This time the bulb will be replaceable.

The head is very differcult to adjust. You have to make the bolt very tight otherwise it goes all over the place. The cover that goes over the lens to keep the dust off the lens will not stay up unless the head is level. I took it off. It is useless!. The light itself is very good. Would I buy in again? No !!
