2.5-in. DiaSharp Diamond Mini-Hone Sharpening Kit of Coarse, Fine, and Extra Fine Grit Sharpeners (D2K)

I have several diamond sharpeners from DMT and have been extremely impressed at their durability and the consistent results I get. These smaller more portable sharpeners are great for smaller knives and blades. I have used ceramic sharpeners for a long time until my eyes were opened to diamond sharpeners. So far in my experience anything DMT sharpeners my blades faster and more consistently than anything I've tried.

I purchased a turning kit to make a Christmas present. I expected the 3 tools to be of questionable sharpness, but I'm not a frequent turner and didn't want to spend a lot on a set to make the gift. I wasn't disappointed with the readiness of the turning set, they were unusable out of the box. I purchased this set of diamond sharpeners to make these tools usable again without breaking the bank in the process. This sharpening set did the trick quickly, efficiently and the value turning set did a very acceptable job of producing the gift. I have since began to use this set on other non-critical sharpening around my shop and they continue to do a journeyman's job in doing so ... at this price, they have paid for themselves several times over.

I'm kinda disappointed I researched through AI what was considered to be the hole standard in diamond sharpening technology. And it told me DMT was considered top of the mark. So I ordered these and right out of the box I noticed the handle are super jankey. They are just light weight and flimsy. Then with just a visual inspection the finest grit noticably inconsistent. You can see grit on the surface that looks like random bolders stuck to a otherwise uniform surface. Due to the reputation DMT has I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say this experience is a one of random occurrence. Because if it was the norm I don't think they would have the reputation that they have so I guess take this review for what you will

They are easy to use for touch up sharpening the lathe tools I use.

These tools are incredible! I've been using them for many years to sharpen all sorts of blades. The most important thing is to use them correctly - like a file and not like a whetstone.

I bought these diamond hones to use for sharping my kitchen knives. I have sharpening stones but these work faster. I use the coarse diamond hone to shape the bevel, and the finer hones to put a nice smooth edge on a knife. I find these faster than using my sharpening stones. Additionally, I use water on the stones and these diamond hones are used dry, which is nice in certain environments.

Works as advertised.

Good for sharpening hand tools.
