The Real Persuasion: Portrait of a Real-Life Jane Austen Heroine Hardcover – July 15, 2017

This was a delightful read. Particularly if you are a fan of Jane Austen's writing (the novel Persuasion) you will love the parallels in this book. It reads like a wonderful narrative story of a family and a woman in the context of the 18th and 19th centuries, and I found myself wanting to look up more information on the family when I finished reading this.

Based on a true story, it makes a strong connection with Austen's own novel and provides tips for converting historical events into quasi-fictional texts.

I bought this for my mother, a keen Jane Austen fan, and though the book merely portrays the society in which Jane was living, with reference to a specific family, mum loved it.

Found this book very fascinating - Katherine Annabella was my Great x 3 Grandmother, so I enjoyed it from a family history point of view but also I found it really brought Persuasion to life as well. Very interesting to see the parallels between the two lives.
