... the Table of Contents and index makes this a good reference book
The combination of the Table of Contents and index makes this a good reference book. Only 4 stars because I feel that there was not enough information on CSS commands to position elements like images, etc. It used to be so easy with tables and the html command "center," which is gone. Yes, the book has information on positioning, but it spread all through the book. I was looking for a chapter or two on all the options. For example, the Display function in Layout has 19 options! I wanted a list of the 19 and what each is used for. Oh well, Adobe doesn't have it in their online help either. Still, it is a nice reference book. I got the digital version for ease of searching, but then got the 1,070 page "HTML5 and CSS3 All in one for Dummies" in print expecting more on layout, but it is scattered too.

Dreamweaver CC For Dummies by Janine Warner
The content seems fine, about what I'd expect so far, but I'm really just getting started. Trying to get a hosting site setup on an Adobe subscription now so I can actually put a site on the web and go from there. One problem I do have with the book is probably a publisher problem: I need at least one full power higher magnification on my reading glasses to see the figures (1x for the text and 2x for the figures) which is a pain in the parking place! The last book I was reading was the same though, a Photoshop book by Scott Kelby. If they made the figures fit the page width instead of having 2" margins on both sides, and sometimes double columns, text on the figures could be made more consistent with the rest of the text size, and that would be a WHOLE LOT more user friendly!

Good helpful advice, my only complaint is took way too long to get to me, come on, it's just a book.

it is great. It got me up and running quickly
This has helped me a lot in developing a website. Maybe for those designers that want to make more sophisticated sites, there may not be enough information, but for my basic site, it is great. It got me up and running quickly. I am sure that I didn't always do things the best way because I just pieced through the information, but it got the job done.

NOT for beginners
There's no way this book is for 'dummies' or even beginners. I took a college-level course in Dreamweaver before getting this book and I can grasp what the author means but there is no way I'd understand it w/o prior instruction. It's good for people who already have some web designing literacy.

This book is a major disappointment!
This book is an aberration from the format and clean explanations in the Dummies series. In the past I have purchased other books "for Dummies" because they provide good references for details about the subjects in question. This book on Dreamweaver CC does not. The Index is thin, to say the least which compounds the problem for those who are looking for references to specific features of the program. To get a sense of how frustrated I am, this is the first review I have written in over ten years for any book or product I have purchased on Amazon.

An excellent reference book with great illustrations
I bought this book as a companion reference book to theย Adobe Dreamweaver CC Classroom in a Book ย which I have just worked through. This Dummies book has a comprehensive index at the back and is therefore useful for checking some detail that you may have forgotten. Being printed on semi-gloss paper, the colour illustrations are superlative. The author herself writes "You don't have to read through this book cover to cover ... [it is] a quick study guide and a reference you can return to", and she has got this exactly right. As a beginner to Dreamweaver, I do not think I could have learnt Dreamweaver from this book alone, nor do I think the author intended this. However, having finished and set aside my Classroom in a Book, I have been referring to this book and the Adobe web site every time I need to check some detailed point.Highly recommended. Easy to read, understand and put into practice
I got Dreamweaver CC and I'm a dummy. No, not for subscribing to Adobe Creative Cloud - that's a whole other argument. Learning new tech always fills me with dismay. Anyway, I need to revise and update my business website. I know a little about CSS and HTML, but don't intend to pay any more charlatan 'web design' companies for their smoke and mirror stuff. Book is reading really well and I'm managing to put the information to good use. Thank you Janine Warner and Amazon Kindle. Enough said. Five stars.

Useful book
Having listened to my husband's frustration with getting round the new Dreamweaver, I ordered this book & he is absolutely delighted so far. It's a powerful programme & this book should help to explain how to use it.

A well constructed user manual
Almost there, even for a dummy. I think that my problems lie more with the structure of Adobe's program than this manual.
