Okay, this review may be long, but it might be the difference between liking and loving your projector. First and foremost, I’ve loved this projector from the first one I got for my sons from Santa this past Christmas, 2023. It is easy to set up and use, pretty much fool proof, and I say “pretty much” because of the first version I purchased. This newer version is, without a doubt, fool proof and while it only offers a little more advancement all in all, these advancements make so much more of a difference. So much so that I gave the older version to my twins for now (they’re only 1) and the newer one to my 2 and 3 year old sons for the time being, even though the new one I got was for myself originally and is rose gold.I’ll be getting my sons a different color, which will also serve my twin son when he switches bedrooms, and the rose gold can go to my daughter. I already purchased myself a new projector as well…So what are the differences?1. The simplest of differences, the new one features a knob on the slot to pull open and insert the disc you choose to use (the discs are the exact same as the older version).2. Ease of use: it’s even EASIER to use than the old one, and that’s a difficult feat in itself. There are 3 buttons on each and from right to left, the power button, the rotation on/off/speed button, and the timer button. Both versions do self shut off after 4h regardless, but you can also set the projector timer for 1h or 2h. There is one major difference and it involves the buttons.3. Indicator lights for the timers: Both versions have this feature, which is great. When the light is off, it means it’s on the 4h automatic shut off, not a timer setting. When it’s on, there are two lights, one of the two will turn on based on the setting, either the 1h setting or 2h. There aren’t any indicator lights, however, for the rotation button on the older version! The new one, however, does have these lights, and for such a small feature, it makes a HUGE difference.4. Indicator lights for rotation/rotational speed: Why is this important? Well, while this seems like a small thing, especially because the rotation defaults to slow for both machines when turned off and back on, I can assure you that it makes a HUGE difference. Last night I was trying to set the rotation speed for my twins on the older projector for around 10 minutes, versus setting it for my older sons on the new projector in seconds. Now before jumping to conclusions that the older machine might be faulty, I do know that the older one definitely works and spins. I only received and set up the new one 2 mornings ago, and prior to the new version being delivered, the older version’s picture was clearly spinning in my boys’ room. Last night, however, I realized how much of a difference there really is between the two. In order to make sure the older projector was set to spin for my twins, I had to hold the machine in my hands and feel for vibration and then; *click* “okay, it’s off, *click*, now it’s on so it should be set to slow, *click* now it should be set to fast? But is it really rotating where it’s noticeable because I can’t tell with the naked eye after using the new version”. The rotation speed is THAT much slower than that of newer version where I can’t even tell at this point if the rotation is even on by just looking at the picture, let alone which speed it’s on. The indicator lights on the new version take away all of that guess work.5. Performance: Starting with rotation speed again, you can actually tell that the picture is rotating on both settings of the updated version, even without the indicator lights, but they really are helpful in determining which speed the machine is set to, which may be important for those whose kids get motion sickness. The performance in its entire though…1000x better down to the picture.6. Clearer picture and better focus adjustment: the older machine has great projection clarity and the ability to focus the lens, the pictures are bright and beautiful, but neither the clarity and functionality of the focus on the older machine, nor the aesthetic of the picture compares to that of the updated version. The projections from the new machine are even sharper, brighter, and just better looking. When you need to adjust the focus, very little rotation of the lens will fix and adjust the picture clarity. The older projector requires you to spin and spin the lens like crazy to make the image sharper. The effects are also WAY more realistic on the new one, which you wouldn’t expect considering the discs are the exact same between the two machines and the images look amazing even on the older version.The take away? All of these small differences between one machine I purchased in December of 2023, and the other I purchased only 4 months later in April 2024 make these two projectors seem like completely different machines when they are, in fact, the exact same projector, just one of them has “minor” upgrades. Honestly, I recommend both, they’re great, but the new one really has it all.The ONLY thing I would change about the projectors is the compatibility of the discs they take. There is a brand of discs where there has to be at least 50-100 different projections and they’re not even relatively close in compatibility with this machine; which really stinks because they do have amazing add on images and they are compatible multiple other brands of projectors. This at least gives you, as well, the option to choose between higher or lower priced projectors. LUCKILY, this specific projector is still the least expensive of the projectors that take disc slides and I don’t think people need THAT many different slides, especially children.Lastly and probably most importantly, when I say the machine and slides are durable, I mean DURABLE! My sons have thrown both machines violently on numerous occasions, be it after naps, after waking in the morning, or before lying down to sleep. They’ve stepped on, jumped on, thrown, bitten, and roughly handled the discs multiple times and the worst thing that’s happened thus far is that they put finger prints on the slides, which it just so happens that the machine comes with a cloth for the lens and the slides ;).So…cheapest projector that has extremely high durability, is extremely easy to set up and use, is dummy proof, and has clear, crisp, and bright pictures? Why wouldn’t someone choose this specific projector knowing all of this?*Note: most projectors, if not all based on my knowledge, that only use discs don’t have remote controls unless they also have a laser feature. I could be wrong but I haven’t seen one yet that does. This one doesn’t have one but it hasn’t negatively affected myself or my children in any way.**ALSO this is the only projector I’ve seen with a self shut off greater than 2-3 hours! LOVE THIS FEATURE!

The image is not as big i thought it is or identical to the picture. But it is still okay. My nephew still liked it.

So, I’ve never had anything like this. While I always thought it was neat to create some mood with lighting, I never really understood what the big deal was. I still don’t, for the record. LOL! But still, I do have to say that this is a cool little projector. I’d say this is great for the kid’s room or if you have some sort of party and this fits along with the theme. (We’re Going to Mars party - haha) It does the job and, with the discs, it is pretty cool I suppose. I can see where some people will think this is awesome and some will think this is silly and unnecessary. But those who think it’s silly and unnecessary won’t be reading this review. So that means you like this kinda thing if you’re reading this. If that’s the case, this is a fine projector for you to get. Please note that this is a little “plasticky”… but I don’t think that really matters in this case as you’re not going to be handling this all the time. This is a good deal for a good product. Pretty cool to float through space in your living room. haha

For over $30, I expected a bit more. If you are using this in a kid's room, it's fine and they won't even notice any issues. For anyone else though, it does feel pretty cheap and the quality of the image that it projects is not super sharp. Maybe I am expecting too much for the money, but I was just hoping it would feel a bit better and project an image that really makes you be in awe of outer space. Like I said though, kids will love it though. The only reason I am giving this four stars instead of three is because I think this is really geared towards children, even though it does say it is for adults too.

The pictures they send are horrible. They look like a child was playing with crayons and doesn't come into focus no matter what you do.

I really wanted to love this device as I am a big fan of astronomy. The biggest downside for me is the brightness. It simply isn't bright enough to be enjoyed unless every single light in the room is off. Even then, the image is still rather dim. I wanted this as an ambient feature in my room but its just not bright enough. The projected image is determined by selecting one of 13 supplied image slides. While the variety sounds nice, it is kind of a pain to have to change the slide every time you want a different image. Even then though, again, the projector is not bright enough to be very useful. Shame.

This planetarium projector is well made. It has multiple discs to insert with different pictures. The picture quality is very nice. The brightness is perfect. Love the amount of options you have. The battery last a good long while as well. Highly recommend!

It does NOT cover the whole ceiling. I return it.The one thing good I'll say is the pictures are cool. But don't expect it to cover the whole ceiling like it is portrayed in the advertisement

The pictures are nice but look like they came out of an old science fiction movie from the 50’s
