I feel like I say this often
I feel like I say this often, but yes Devon McCormack is a new to me author and yes....I'll be diving into anything else he has written. This story MIGHT seem like you've read the same thing before. As you start reading it, you are absolutely sure you know exactly where it's going. There are alot of books out there about falling for your best friend's father...but this one is different in many different ways. It is a story about coming out, coming together, falling for someone you really should stay away from, painful pasts and painful presents. Eric is a hot, older man and Jesse has no idea why he feels such a connection to him or why he can't seem to walk away from this attraction that he has never really felt before. Neither of them want to hurt Ty (Eric's son) but the more time they spend together, the clearer it becomes that there may be something there. Circumstances, however, threaten to pull them apart. Whether it is Ty, or either of their pasts, maybe a happily ever after is not in the cards for anyone. Amazing story that yes...ends on a bit of a cliffhanger but so worth every second you spend reading it.

Favorite Devon McCormack book!
This is the best Devon McCormack book I've read. I've loved all the books I've read by him, both his solo work and his work with Riley Hart, but this is by far the best. I was not expecting to feel everything I am for these characters.Jesse had never been with a man but he wasn't opposed to trying. I loved how once Eric found out that Jesse was a virgin to anal sex he backed off. It was frustrating watching them want the same thing but being unable to have it as neither of them wanted to wreck their relationships with Ty. But it only lasted so long before they were at it again. The sex was hot and everything I expected from this book. But Eric's issues, along with Jesse's compassion and understanding came at a level I wasn't expecting. And I loved that. They built a great relationship and I was not expecting the turn this book took.By the end, once I saw the direction it was heading towards I was in tears. I didn't expect that. I didn't Devon McCormack to evoke such a strong reaction from me. I need more of these characters.

I feel cheated ...
I probably was not as disappointed as other 3-star reviewers because they seem to be well acquainted with the author's work; and this is my first time (no pun intended :)) reading him. So I have no problems with the writing, I enjoyed it. What seemed like repetitiveness to other reviewers felt like legitimate new relationship angst to me. And, after all, this relationship is under quite a bit of stress. Jesse's best friend is the son of his older, gay lover. There's a serious age difference between the two men. And, Eric has very serious baggage. And THAT is what frustrated & bothered me about this story - at the exact moment the plot is about to get serious, and seriously interesting - "to be continued" - It felt like a slap in the face. I can't say that was the best decision a publisher (or author?) ever made. I will DEFINITELY scope out reviews before I buy another of this author's books. I feel cheated and let down.I mean seriously, if Eric and Jesse's story was becoming too long ... a few of the sex-n-guilt scenes could have been lost, in favor of one full book. But I guess money is more important. Ha ha, I don't think I'll buy the sequel because, fool me once ... shame on you ... fool me twice - you're not getting a chance.

It was ok but i'd rather not have purchased it.
I was intrigued by the pairing: father and son's best friend. Ty and Jesse are best friends on vacation in Eric's (Ty's father) condo in Mexico after Jesse lost his job and interviewed for a new job. Eric mixes his son's calendar and ends up in the condo at the same time as his son & friend. There's an instant attraction between Eric and Jesse, even though Jesse has never admitted to or acted on his interest in men. Ty & Eric's father son relationship is strained because Eric did not meet Ty until he was 16 years old. Ty's mother didn't tell Eric she was pregnant after they broke up when he accepted he was gay. Ty & Eric barely speak to each other. Ty is called away for work for a couple of days and Eric & Jesse can;t resist their attraction to each other and fall into a relationship that continues after they both leave their vacation fling. They finally tell Ty about their relationship and it blows up in their faces. Ty never wants to see either of them again. We are left on this event. There is also off book rape of one of the main characters that may be a sensitive subject matter to some people.I would like to know what happens next but i'd not necessarily want to purchase it.

What an amazing story. The fact that their age and of course the completely against the bro code holds them up their chemistry is totally off the charts. They both struggle of course with the right or wrong of it, but they absolutely click. It is fun to watch them even just hanging out they laugh and talk and of course get very dirty. But they also do have serious discussions it's not all about the bedroom activities. There is a past that haunts Eric and we all watch as he comes to terms with it and the support that Jesse gives him. The serious side of this is really heartbreaking and watching as they both acknowledge that this will hurt/destroy one relationship is tough, what do you choose? How do you choose? Yes it ends on a cliffhanger but there is so much to this story that needed to be said, I can't wait for the next one.

Not sure how to review this book. While I did, for the most part, enjoy the book, I kept subconsciously comparing it to others with similar storylines.I go back and forth between being frustrated by the writing style and not minding it. This is the first book that I read that was written solely by Devon and yet it almost seemed as though it was written by two separate people.Warning, this book ends in a cliffhanger. I did enjoy this story enough that I intend on reading the next book.POV... multi-first personStandalone or series... book 1 **Ends in a cliffhanger**Did I get a hangover... slightWould I recommend it... sureWould I read it again... maybe

Dunno why
I kept going and doing only to find it wasn’t even the end of the story. Maybe because I couldn’t sleep. It dragged on and on and wasn’t even hot anymore. Sorry but so disappointed. Hate books that have no HAE and don’t tell you there’s another book after. I started with Pretty thing which was great and went back to this. Wish I hadn’t :(.

No emotion
The storyline is great, the words are there but just don't feel it. The emotion just isn't there at all.Such a shame as the storyline has such potential.
