Yes it will work. It is one of the lower end model from Vortex that is sourced from China, but it works. There are other more affordable, identical options though.

Q: Will this provide enough clearance to mount a 50mm objective NightForce Scope on top of an AR15 ?

I have the 1.5" version of this in top of an AR10 (similar mount) and it's too low to clear my 50mm objective crossfire. You want this one. I'll post again after I get it mounted, but I only need another .25" so I'm confident this will resolve my problem.

Q: How sturdy is this mount with a scope on it is it very secure?

The mount is very sturdy. I use it with a Nikon P-300 mounted on a 300BLK rifle. I've never had any problems. Make sure to use locktite on screws.

Q: Will this work for a left hand ar set up??

Yes. This mounts on top, and does not interact with any right or left hand bolt configurations.
