Woodlathe steady rest
Very well built fit my jet 1220 perfectly. Studied my workpiece and made it easy to carve.

1/4" would have been better
Nice steady rest - works as it should on both my, Delta Home craft 11" and my 12" Delta Rockwell. the clamps snug down securely and all adjustments work well. The loop of the steady rest is fabricated from 3/16" steel - I think it under built. 1/4" would have been better. I've had unnecessary movement with some setups that I believe could have been avoided had the steady rest been fabricated from sturdier stock. Over all I like it, but I find the fabrication lacking. I will remedy by backing it with 1/2" ply, or 1/4 aluminum and and running a flush trim router bit around it.4 Stars

Steady as she goes
I use my steady rest for longer wood turning projects. Truly easy to set up and use - and keeps them nice and steady while Iām carving the outside and inside of my lathe projects.

Too small!
Product advertisement somewhat misleading. Was supposed to be for a range of lathe sizes but not everything was included to use with 18ā lathe. This problem was easily remedied with fabrication of a couple of extra spacers.Product also limited in the size of work it can be used on. Its size limits are small for use on an 18ā lathe.

Functions Well
This woodturning steady rest (MC-FS7) is able to fit 12", 14", and 16" sized lathes using blocks to build up the height to fit the size required. The rest is easy to put together and functions well. It holds the turnings in place without wobble. The design choice though of having it work with multiple sizes using blocks does mean, if one has a 16" lathe like I do, that one is trading some size capacity for the versatility. However, considering how economical this is compared to the larger dedicated sized ones, this is a good choice.
