Betray Your Friends. Unicorns are Your Friends Now. Unstable Unicorns is a strategic card game that will destroy your friendships in the name of victory. The game was one of Kickstarter’s top 100 most backed projects of all time and won the 2019 People’s Choice Award for Toy of the Year. Review: This is a Great Game for a Large Group - Let's start by saying the art is cute, I mean really identifiable for TeeTurtle fans and those who are new to that theme. It works great for children as it is bright and colorful and just fun. The game can be taken seriously, as in everyone is strategizing, doing their best to build their stable of unicorns and just focused. it also works great for a group that socializes while playing. Think sitting around the table and playing a game while catching up on what is going on with everyone. Throw in a few expansion packs, and it scales fine for a large group. When it comes to children, just exclude the NSFW pack if you have it (expansions are easily identifiable) and maybe remove a couple of the more difficult cards for young children. Generally though, the cards are not especially difficult. If the younger kids struggle, it's going to be due to words they don't know ow instructions. They now have a kid version, but I'd say the 7-8 year old kid who are reading at a pretty good level should be fine with just a hint of a adult help. Now if you are cut-throat, obviously they get a disadvantage from having to show someone their card to learn it, but this is not truly a game for cut throat behavior when you throw in some kids into the mix. Now as far as the the game play goes, if you have 8+ it does take a long time to go around the table and get everyone a turn and it will exceed 60 minutes, easily. However, it's pretty rare someone isn't engaged, either in the game or the shat, and it's a competitive game that can kind of work for those who are not really that into heavy competition or the screw your neighbor kind of games. The theming, the unicorns themselves, the things you can do makes screwing your neighbor fun. It's not mean spirited or tilted in favor for one particular person's strategic aptitude. Building stable of unicorns is fun. Admiring your friend's baby unicorn and taking it away immediately is also fun. Getting excited about a great card and then having someone neighing you... fun. Cute and cuddly, yes. Simple to play with a variety of cards and can entertain a lot of players, yes. It's not a huge change in mechanics from what other games do, but it's just great fun. I received this game as a gift years ago, and I've purchased it for others since. It's just a great game to be able to pull out without a lot of set-up or huge explanations. Just play and have fun, and yeah, bring your kids in too! Review: LOVE THIS GAME - My lord what a fun game. This truly has been a must play now between my friends. In this case you try to build a stable of unicorns getting to a certain number before everyone else. You don't get put out of the game though like exploding kittens. **Q: Is it truly 14+? Can it be adapted to younger players (fairly easily)? Or just forget it?** A: I am not sure why it is 14+. I think it would be fine as long as they can understand the rules and be fine being sabotaged. Just don't get the NSFW expansion pack :) **Q: I have the base game and all the expansions. Love it! but it doesn't' fit in the box... What has worked to contain your unicorns?** A: Other card games sell portable expansion and game pack carriers. Maybe when purchasing you can check the Unicorns deck sizes against the carrier to make sure. **Q: How many min and max players?** A: Unstable Unicorns is a 2 to 8 player game. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a Great Game for a Large Group *by T***Y on February 22, 2022* Let's start by saying the art is cute, I mean really identifiable for TeeTurtle fans and those who are new to that theme. The learning curve is heavy, beware. But once everyone gets the hang of it... your friends are not your friends anymore. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strategic Chaos Wrapped in Adorable (and Destructive) Unicorns *by T***Y on December 29, 2025* Unstable Unicorns is a strategic card game that perfectly blends "cute" aesthetics with "cutthroat" gameplay. Created by the same team behind Here to Slay, it has become a staple for family game nights and parties due to its high replayability and "funny" unpredictable nature. Gameplay and Strategy Build Your Army: The goal is simple: be the first player to collect 7 Unicorns in your "Stable." However, every other player will be trying to destroy your progress using Upgrade, Downgrade, and Magic cards. The "Neigh" Factor: One of the most iconic elements is the "Neigh" card, which allows you to stop an opponent's action instantly. This leads to hilarious "Neigh wars" where players counter-counter-action each other. Accessible but Deep: While the Ages 8 and up rating makes it family-friendly, there is a surprising amount of strategy and "take-that" mechanics that keep adults engaged and competitive. Why It's a "Must-Have" High Player Count: Supporting 2 to 8 players, it is versatile enough for a small date night or a large holiday gathering. Hilarious Art: The cards feature "funny" and creative unicorn variations—from Zombie Unicorns to Narwhals—each with unique abilities that keep the game visually entertaining. Quick Setup: The game is easy to learn, with most groups picking up the mechanics within the first few rounds of play. Final Verdict Unstable Unicorns is "outstanding" for those who love games that mix strategy with social interaction. It is "super effective" at creating memorable, high-energy moments where alliances are formed and broken in minutes. ## Frequently Bought Together - Unstable Games - Unstable Unicorns Base Game - Competitive Award-Winning Card Game For Kids, Teens, Adults - 2-8 Players, Easy, Quick - Unstable Games - Here To Slay Base Game - Adventure RPG Dice Rolling Card Game For Teens, Adults - 2-6 Players, Hand Management - Unstable Games - Happy Little Dinosaurs Base Game - Competitive Sabotage Funny Card Game For Kids, Teens, Adults - 2-4 Players, Hand Management --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.au/products/61543234-unstable-games-unstable-unicorns-card-game](https://www.desertcart.com.au/products/61543234-unstable-games-unstable-unicorns-card-game) --- *Product available on Desertcart Australia* *Store origin: AU* *Last updated: 2026-10-06*
