Eastanbul Wild Thyme, 1.76oz Mediterranean Zatar Thyme Seasoning
This is a good sized jar of dried thyme. It's very fragrant and adds a nice subtle citrusy flavor to savory dishes, like soups, bread, or on meat. The expiration date is a couple years out so this will last a while.

Seems More Earthy Or Woody Than Dried Domestic Thyme - These Are Dried Wild Thyme Leaves
Review of Eastanbul Wild Thyme, 1.76oz Mediterranean Zatar Thyme Seasoning, AKA Thymbra Spicata, Spiked thyme, For Tea & Culinary Seasoning, Dried Thyme Leaves, Thyme Herb, Mountain Wild Thyme sold by Deal Ark LLC doing business on Amazon as Best Deals 2 Ship. This is a larger plastic shaker bottle of dried thyme leaves received with a Best Before date approximately 33 months from receipt. The Best Before date (or similar wording) probably is ignored by users (including myself).Wild thyme is often described as “spikey” which describes these very well. Out of the bottle these are longer in length than domestic thyme with one end feeling a bit spikier than domestic thyme. It may just be an interpretation on my part but these seem to take a little longer to soften up when cooking. The flavor seems to be more woody or earthy than dried domestic thyme and is a bit stronger as well.Since these are dried it is hard to judge the freshness but these do not seem to be old or stale.

Great for soups and savory dishes
The container is large for spices so it'll last me a while. Thyme is such a nice herb to add to most savory dishes and this thyme is very fresh and fragrant. I used it for lamb chops and an evening cup of tea and its delicious.

Makes a great tea!
This Wild Thyme (Thymbra Spicata) is not the same thyme that you buy in your supermarket spice aisle (Thymus vulgaris). It's a much better variety in my opinion and while you can use it for ordinary cooking, it really shines through for it's purported health benefits (search Pubmed for more information on this). It's a bit "rougher" texture than what you'll find in your standard supermarket fare, but this allows the Carvacrol to more easily exit the plant material and enter your meal. Again, search Pubmed for the advantages of Carvacrol from thyme.

Smells amazing
This thyme is very fragrant and seems to be of good quality. I do love thyme as it is one of my favorite spices so I will make good use of this spice. My favorite use for thyme is on roasted potatoes and I absolutely love it in chicken noodle soup as it truly enhances the flavor. Today I added it to an Italian Meatball Soup that I made and it paired well with those flavors as well. I do place the leaves in my hand and basically grind them before adding them to my dishes. The only negative I have is that this thyme seems to have quite a few pointing stems in it so I may just grind this into a powder.

fragrant and potent out of the jar but pleasant and mild on food
The jar came sealed with a best by date over 2 years out. I am not a thyme expert or buff but I found the herb to smell very strong and fragrant out of the jar. It comes as large full dried leaves, not ground up. I sprinkled the dried leaves onto my food and found the flavor to be mild and earthy.

Always need it, never have it
Thyme is something I seem to always need for a recipe, yet never have on hand. A bunch of thyme really doesn't have all that much by the time I strip the leaves off the stems. I've tried dehydrating, but haven't been able to get the timing right, either too dry or moist enough to mold. Blech! So, I reluctantly bought this and am so happy I did. It smells wonderful and the flavor does not overwhelm a dish. There's enough here to get me through plenty of roasts, broils and even a cup of tea or two. I'm a fan.

for a good thyme, call
pretty good quality, it isn't top-dollar but it IS good, and you get a very large container. Excellent value.
