This will make you faster than any other "mod" you could buy for your bike
This thing is awesome. It has big tracks already programmed in, and it can learn ANY track you take it to, I can even use it at small supermoto/kart tracks.Besides all the normal stuff such as tracking lap times etc which it does on its own the second your turn it on, It also has led green and red lights that can let you know when your real time current pace is faster or slower than your other laps in each individual sector of the track. So for example you're seeing red lights as your go through sector 2, maybe that line your took is slower than the line you took last time...or seeing green as you blast through sector 5 tells you that maybe holding 3rd gear longer there is giving you a little added speed coming out of that corner...etc. I mean that kind of information is insanely helpful when it comes to improving your lap times and learning new (and even old) tracks!Battery life isn't stellar, but if you wanna get faster this thing is a huge help. It breaks down each session, so literally by the time you roll into the pits it has your session laid out by fastest lap, and then you can go in and see where you were faster and when. I mean it's pretty incredible considering it's just a little black box...although I haven't checked to see if there are apps that can do the same thing via iphone, even if they could I wouldn't want to strap my phone to my top triple clamp while i'm on track. I have no problem saying that it is the easiest to use yet most sophisticated piece of electronics that I've ever owned.I've crashed with it on a mini moto going about 35mph and on a full size sportbike at the track going about 70mph...neither had direct hits to the device, but it survived being rattled hard both times no worries.

Great lap timer
This is a great little lap timer. The things I am most impressed about is the fact that the back is magnetic and sticks to the mounting plate so strongly that you dont even need to use the set screw to keep it in place. The other nice thing about it is that it doesnt take up too much screen real estate. In sports cars they are not huge to begin with and you really need your sight lines so being able to tuck it into a small area like the one to the left of the steering wheel is fantastic. I used a ram Mount with a 1" ball that fit onto the unit with the included mounting hardware and it all worked like a champ. I havent used it on the track yet but will provide further details when I do. So glad I bought this as it was between this and the Garmin and I think for my preferences the Garmin would be too big.

I've been through 2 units in 3 years.
I'll be finding a different lap timer after buying two units so far. The first one lasted two years, after a hard life. Decided to order another unit, this one has lasted 6 months (5 race weekends) and at my last event lost all satellite connectivity. It was also developing a white powder on the inside screen after the first practice weekend. Took the unit off the bike and heard rattling around inside. It's useless now.

Great data that's accurate and love the lighting!
Works great for laptimes. Negatives of the device are it doesn't ever show 100% charged. Brand new would charge to 93%.. after 1 use it will now only charge to 90%. Not the only device to do this, 2 of my friends do the same. Also the editing software needs to be updated. You have to use 2 different programs to get all the data and info, can't get all from just one program and the programs are made by the same company! Other negative is the attachment plate screws. They're too short and only grab 1 or 2 threads. Device has magnets but those won't hold it on if you crash.Overall it's a great laptimer that makes it easy to see if you are going faster or slower in sections of track you are riding, just lacking in other aspects listed above.

Not a lot of features for the price, and stopped working after a few track days
When I first got my Solo 2, I was pretty excited to use it and I still give it 3 stars because it has added a lot of fun to track days and helped me improve. However, it doesn't have all that many features compared to the Racebox Mini, the desktop software to load tracks and change the settings is extremely poorly maintained and hard to use (with very few guides online on how to use it), and most recently my Solo 2 has stopped working correctly. This past track day, it would turn on and select the track I am at like normal, but would end the 'session' on its own while I am still out on the track. Then it never picks up that I am still making laps and eventually turns itself off. This continued throughout the day and I never got a single accurate lap time as it would either stop timing before I even left the pit lane or never regain a GPS lock after turning it back on, due to moving around on track.I have tried to reset the Solo 2 in the AiM software, but will be sending it back to AiM to be repaired as it appears the GPS module is no longer working or something is burnt out internally that is causing the issue. However, I would recommend a different system like the Racebox Mini, as even though it requires a phone to use with it, it offers a lot more data for a lower price despite not being able to see your lap times in realtime.

Fantastic for portable Racecar Data Logging
AIM products are great, but if you don't want to invest the money into all the external sensors, etc, this is a great option for Formula Vee, Karts, autocrossing your street car, etc. Speed, Gs, best lap, current lap, etc.The DL version allows link to OBDII connector, but for my purposes, that was not needed. As an engineer, I love data, and as a driver, the data provided with this unit is mainly what I need for self improvement of my own lap times and skills.Highly recommended.
