No GPS Satellite Function!
I liked this tablet when I first set it up. It's simple and easy to use. I was drawn to it because of its almost square screen format for use with mapping apps which would be much better than the more rectangular formats of other tablets... until I tried to receive a GPS satellite signal. This tablet doesn't have that technology, so for me, it's useless. It only finds your location when connected to a wi-fi service... which makes it useless when out of cell phone range on the backroads... even if you do have a cell phone that can provide it with a hot-spot.

Well
The item was shipped like it said, and has the working capacity it sait it would, but the product locks up alot. I noticed that everything you do on it, it runs constantly in the background leaving the system to only crash and lock up. I bought two of these and they both do the same thing. Better off buying a Dell or something more reliable. I will probably leave it for a spare item to use when i have to... My first bad pruchase

Pretty darn good
I didn't buy this model from amazon, but another retailer. But it works great and is really fast. Sure, it's not a high end model, but that's why you're not paying top dollar. But for the price, it's hard to beat. Screen looks really good and is pretty responsive. I recommend it to anyone looking for a budget tablet.

Samsung envy satisfied, for now
I didn't get my Digix TAB-840 from Amazon, but I have one and am enjoying it. It's not the latest and greatest and can't be compared to one, but it's a nice little tablet for the money. I like it's look even though it's an odd shape no one seems to have a cover for. Eh, I'll make my own cover. Here's my experience with this tablet so far:Out of the box I tried to use it like I would my laptop and it froze on me. I had to force it off with the power button like others have reported. I took this as a learning of what it can't do and started it up again. I then worked to find apps that would do what I liked about my husband's tablet and what I like about my smartphone.I set up the Kindle app with my library and read one of the books I hadn't gotten to yet. It makes a great reader. Nice clear screen with clean operation of swipes and bookmarks.I went into my gmail account and had no issues viewing my email. Worked as expected with no issues.I opened Chrome and did a test surf with no unexpected problems. It worked like my phone but I could see the details on the pages I visited because of the bigger screen. Nice. The camera leaves a lot to be desired and I discovered right away that I will miss the camera on the back that isn't there. This camera is for selfies and you have to look at the corner it's in or you are looking away in your pics. It is hard to aim at anything else other than yourself as the screen you would use to view the image to aim and focus has to face the item. There is no flash and it doesn't focus. I won't be using this camera much, if at all. It doesn't need to be there. Maybe it scypes well. I don't know. The Gallery app is limited to just housing what pictures it can find in it's files, but I found an add-on that allows me to rename those pics and another that would allow me to create a file and move the pics. Once I activated the file manager program on the tablet, though, that gallery file add-on only moves pics. The file manager program can create files, though, so not a huge thing. Just clunkier than my phone. 9/26 edit: Took me a bit to notice the tiny file+ image at the top right of the move window. That's how the Gallery creates album files. I'll have to review that app directly now.I added an app called Handrite Notes that works like one I used on my husband's tablet, then found an art app I can use with it to draw notes. I haven't tried a stylus with this tablet yet. I'm just using my finger. Figure I can't lose that. It's attached.I'm currently not using much of the Google functionality so I had to also find a music player app to play what I download to the device. I don't stream from a cloud account. I don't have a phone service on this thing, just on my phone. Downloaded some tunes and played them to test the app. The speaker sounds good at a reasonable level unless the song has a heavy bass. Then it gets a bit tinny and distorted. I didn't hook up headphones, but I expect them to work as they do on other devices. The sound is acceptable to me but I can see where it would generate complaints from more music savvy individuals.I also put an SD card on it so I could spare the space resident on the tablet for stuff that can't go on a separate card for any reason. Pics can go on a separate card, and many docs that aren't notes.I added Amazon's app store app and bought a photo editing program that goes beyond brighten and crop and had some fun going through it's tutorials. I like being able to adjust images and correct backgrounds. I'll be looking for that app for my husband's tablet too. That one cost money but was worth it. The others were free up to this point. Then I tried to update a spreadsheet I wanted to be able to work on with this tablet and, in the process of learning how to use the spreadsheet app, it froze again. Ok, so no heavy editing of worksheets. Just light stuff. I moved the spreadsheet to my laptop to edit and then copied it back to the tablet to view. That worked fine.Connectivity. I used the bluetooth function to move some pics from my phone to the tablet. I really liked the way that worked. It was my phone sending to the tablet but the tablet picked the signal up fine and the images looked great. I chose one as my wallpaper and that image glides a little left or right depending on which menu screen I'm on. Very nice.I mentioned I downloaded some tunes. I went to my Amazon library and downloaded it. This was before I inserted the SD card so they went on the space in the tablet but didn't take up much. It was easy to do and didn't take long at all.I linked it via cable to my laptop to copy the spreadsheet and my laptop read it like a storage device. I could view my files and use both devices during this link.I bought a dual thumb drive that has both a micro and a regular USB and plugged the micro USB end into the micro USB charging port to test if I can use it as a USB port. The tablet powered the thumb drive and I could see the drive in the file manager. I used this thumb drive to transfer an image to my husband's tablet using the same port on his tablet as well. No issues there. I'm awaiting delivery on a USB cable and a card reader that I should be able to use with this tablet, his tablet and my smartphone to help us transfer files from my cameras and to and from thumb drives. We'll see how that goes. 9/26 edit: Love the way this thing works well with the new adaptors. I can now use thumbdrives and external SD cards with my tablet. I can also directly connect my cameras to it.I lost my home wi-fi signal on the second floor of my home. The rest of my devices have no issues with my home wi-fi as long as they are somewhere in the house. Much of my wi-fi use happens on the second floor. I was disappointed at this limitation. Haven't looked into troubleshooting this issue yet.So, I'm disappointed that it's not the all-in-one device my husband has but it will be a useful tool for me. Especially once I put a game or too on it and start putting some pics on it from my cameras. I won't miss the camera since I have both my smartphone and two beautiful digital cameras to cover pics and videos. And with the photo editing app I will be able to break away from my laptop and edit on the go. It doesn't cover working on the go, but that's what my laptop is for. This tablet gives me a bigger screen than my phone for reading, better battery life for music, more mobility for images and videos, and mobility (when I can get a strong wi-fi signal) for internet. Currently not an issue since my smartphone works well in that area, but the only strong con I have so far. I docked it a star for wi-fi weakness. I gave it 4 stars because without spending double what I already have, I can't find a tablet I'm willing to trade it for.

Surprisingly Decent
I bought this elsewhere but where else do people go for reviews? My wife has an Ipad. We love the hardware but can't stand Apple. By comparison, Android 4.1 is way more intuitive and easier to use. Using Windows Explorer to move files into and around the Digix is a Godsend compared to having to use Itunes. This Tablet also came ready to play mp3s and just about any video codec, including mkv, right out of the box. HD videos look very nice. OK, not Ipad nice, but very good. This tablet is sufficiently fast too and streams Netflix really well....smooth video and sharp quality. It has blue tooth which I haven't synced yet, the wireless works fine, an hdmi output and USB connectivity. The Google store never asks for my damn password for free apps. Why the hell does Apple do that?So where does it fall short? Well. One forward facing camera. Good for Skyping at best. It takes awful pictures and video, which, of course, the Ipad is great at. The speaker quality is poor and volume levels are ridiculously low, though better through my earbuds. The battery life is short. 3 to 4 hours at best. But, for under $100 I got a fantastic reader as well as a useful tablet, especially anywhere I can get a wireless connection. I'm happy with it.

a great budget tablet
Picked this up at rhymes with trys electronics, it works great but I find it works best turning the sync off. Plays movies love the HDMI output connects to TV, has 3.5 jack which allows me to either listen with headphones or plug it to my car stereo. Or any unit with 3.5 jack. Bluetooth works great on my TDK a33, also has built-in mic and rear facing speaker yes u can download majic app and use as a phone. Battery live is 5 to 7 hours with video being shorter, overall you can't really beat the price, plays games great as it has quad core graphics, I love this thing I found the cases at RadioShack for it or fry . Wish. Had got the 10 inch tho. Also the screen is decent has some bad viewing angles but its not really that serious. Camera isn't bad either acceptable I find, a must buy for someone on a budget but get the 10 inch version for a bit bigger screen. PS, I wrote this review on my digix tab 840

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. NOT WORTH 5 CENTS !!!
I bought two of these - Digixmedia TAB-840. They worked for a while without any complaints, but within a few months (~5 -6 months) they both started freezing up (completely locked). I have to hard reboot to make them start again. Now a days, they freeze up within minutes of me rebooting them. Followed mmany instructions from the Web to fix these, but to no avail...DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. NOT WORTH 5 CENTS !!!
