I love gadgets like this. The light extends quite far and then the head is flexible but will stay in place once it is moved. The light is bright and there is a magnet in the face of the light. So, if you drop a screw in a dark corner place (something I tend to do on a regular basis), you can retrieve the screw pretty easily with this light. Not only can you see where it is but the magnet will pick up the screw. There is also a magnet on the bottom of the flashlight.I will use this as a flashlight only sparingly because it is powered by 4 button batteries rather than AA or AAA, which will last longer. But, the batteries should be sufficient as long as you don't consider it as your primary flashlight.The only thing I would have wanted is for the magnet on the face to be as strong as the magnet on the bottom of the flashlight.

Overall this is a nice light and I'm sure that we will get some good use out of it. It's well made, the flexible portion worked great as did the telescoping portion. It uses some smaller batteries and a traditional AA or AAA size would have been a better choice. It's ability go get into very tight spots was the biggest benefit to us.Now on to the two issues we had.1 - The light itself isn't as bright as we'd hoped. If you are focusing on a very dark area it works great. If you are focusing on an area and there is enough ambient light to see the area but not enough to see everything inside the area, this could be an issue. That being said it should work for most people.2 - The flashlight side has a magnet on it which gets attracted to the sides if you are looking at a metal object. For example we wanted to see if there were any large crumbs in the bottom of our toaster. After unplugging it we tried the light and as soon as we got close to the opening the magnetic head was attracted to the side. We weren't sure what the point of the magnetic head was as if the head is stuck to something it would block the light. It seemed like a bad design choice.Despite these two issues it's still a 4 star product and we do recommend it as long as you are aware of these two design issues.

The magnet end is good; strong enough to pick up a few bits and keep them in place as you retrieve them. What I don't like is that 1) the light isn't very bright and 2) the head/light doesn't screw into the body, it will telescope as you slide it into the pocket/sleeve/bag. The flexible head and telescoping body is nice though, not as smooth as one might hope but good enough. The flashlight feels pretty solid, even when extended. It will still make the tool bag, just wish it was brighter.

This is an very well built flashlight and magnetic pickup all on an extendable pole with the far end being flexible to assume any position. Most of the "pole" is telescoping, much like a radio antenna. The pickup magnet is a ring around the end of the light, which, by the way, is quite bright. The base of the light also has a nice strong magnet so it can be attached to metal near by to where you're working.The on/off button is rubber and compleats the water-proof seal. Everything else has o-ring seals. My only issue is that it uses 3X L44 button batteries, as opposed to larger AA or AAA batteries. For occasion use, this should be fine, but these batteries are not known for their long life. We shall see! I hope I don't often drop screws or bolts in my engine bay, but this will certainly aid in increasing my chances for retrieval!
