Every UK dog food manufacturer is required by Trading Standards to list their ingredients in order of the highest percentage by which they make up the product. However when you look at our ingredients you can see we have listed “Chicken” on 3 occasions Chicken Meat Meal, Chicken & Chicken Fat. Collectively when we add all the chicken together this is the highest percentage of ingredients in our dog food. The only exception is Salters Senior, which contains less chicken.
Product description Who doesn’t want strong bones, healthy teeth and a shiny coat? Salter’s Maintenance has been designed as the optimum nutrition for adult dogs in peak condition. This is a wholesome food, made from natural ingredients with the right balance of protein and energy. A unique blend of fats, oils, vitamins and minerals ensures your dog gets the finest possible nutrition without putting on weight or bouncing off the walls. As a general rule, large breeds change from Puppy food to adult Maintanance food from 6 to 8 months and small breeds 10 to 12 months. Maintenance Food is nutritionally covered both for later stages of junior growth and adulthood when changing over as we recommend.We don’t use any artificial colours, antioxidants or preservatives. Our dog food’s colour is the natural colour after cooking. We use an antioxidant which is a natural extract of Vitamin E (called “topcopherol-rich extracts of natural origin”). Our dog food is preserved naturally, as a result of suitable drying of the cooked kibbles. Like most biscuits, they’re naturally stable stored under cool, dry conditions away from animal contact. Dog Food
I recently adopted two very special dogs that had been brought up with Salters Food. Although a little more expensive than other food, I decided to keep them on this (didn't want upset tummy's etc) They really love it and look so healthy. Will continue buying it.

I’ve used Salter’s dog food for twenty years with all my dogs. They all seemed to like it and it kept their digestive systems in good order. What’s more, they looked really healthy on it. But I don’t have a dog any more, so why am I buying it? Well, I regularly walk dogs at a local rescue centre and I also walk one for a neighbour who sometimes isn’t well enough to do so. And I’ve always used Salter’s as dog treats as well as food. And that’s what I want this for. I know they like it because I had about 12 Kg left over after my last dog died and I’ve been using it up with them.Incidentally, if you're experimenting with this for your dog, I’ve found that some like it completely dry but most prefer it just drizzled with a little hot water. It releases the smell of chicken. But I think it’s important to maintain the crunchiness of the kibbles. That way, the food is a natural plaque remover.Oh, one other thing: there was a complementary pack of dog treats included in the consignment, which I thought was a nice touch.
