Tai Chi Martial Arts T Shirt. This Ultra Heavyweight T’ai Chi T-shirt has been designed to feature the popular Chinese imagery of Yin & Yang togther with the Dragon and the Tiger. Double printed in metallic gold & black ink on our specially produced khaki coloured T-Shirt. Almost all martial artists are familar with the idea of Yin & Yang, the image of perfect balance between light & dark, soft & hard, female & male. What some may not be aware is that the image reflects the Taoist principles of a counterbalance between all contrasting systems, a stillness in which Yin and Yang are in a state of equilibrium. This balance is the expression of Taiji or T’ai Chi. Red Lizard has taken time to produce a T-shirt that reflects this ideal, that of the “Supreme Ultimate”, a goal to which all martial artists aim to achieve. Our design features not only the popular Yin-Yang symbol, but it is encircled by the Eight Tri-grams or Bagua. This again is another Taoist concept which reflects the attributes of the elements and the forces of nature within Chinese culture. Martial Artisits, particularly the practioners of T’ai Chi Ch’aun, utilise these attributes as an expression of the balance between soft & hard, passive & active, and a way to learn the fundamentals of the T’ai Chi forms. Finally these two symbols are surrounded by the TIger and Dragon, both potent symbols of strength and power throughout Chinese folklore. The Dragon, or Long, is said to be the embodiment of the concept of Yang.
