The 4 clear posts in the center are charge status indicators, red=charging, green=charged
Works great out of the box. Slides on to charging mounts easily, just like sliding on to the console (remove wrist straps if attached obviously) . I used the USB port on the back of our docking station, worked immediately great style and function.

Charges joy cons
I like how it tells you when the controls have charged and you can charge two sets of joy cons at once. It works really great. My only complaint is that it didn't come with a charger head which would have been nice. It small so it doesn't take up a lot of space.
