Great toast, every time
I have owned this toaster around two weeks but am very pleased with it. Put simply it does the job it is supposed to do i.e. make good toast, consistently. At £120.00 it is not a cheap toaster but after having to replace two toasters priced between £40-50 in the space of 9 months, I have come to the conclusion that it was either a £10 toaster or a proper one! On with the review.FunctionThe wide and long slots are capable of taking both home made/crusty and sliced bread with ease. I should point out though that this toaster will take four slices at once but NOT Warburtons toasty or equivalent sliced as the slots are not quite long enough to accept two slices end to end and the toaster bays are not deep enough for the slices to be inserted in the upright orientation. The temperature dial has a smooth and positive feel and clicks quietly but reassuringly as you rotate it. The slider is also smooth and upon completing the toasting cycle releases the toast up gently. It takes a little longer to toast than with my previous cheaper toasters about 3-5 minutes but the toast it makes is heavenly. There are 6 settings on the dial, but I have found that setting 3 is about right for a mid brown toast. If you like yours well done there should be more adjustment available for this. The toaster fits well with our other stainless fittings and also does not take up too much room. So far the crumb tray appears to catch about 95% of the crumbs. I was forever wiping down the sides with the cheaper toasters! I have separately compared a slice of frozen warburtons toastie using the green frozen bread button and an unfrozen slice at the same setting. To my surprise they both came out toasted the same. Also, I have generally found that when inserting slices one after another they are of the same quality. The power cord is about 1 metre long which permits it to be moved around a little on the worktop.ConstructionThe toaster appears to be very well made. A variant of this toaster has been independently reviewed by Which magazine and won praise from them. The toaster fits together neatly and unlike many of the £40.00 stainless toasters I have seen, there appear to be no nasty sharp edges where the product has not been finished properly during manufacture. As professional engineer it frustrates me that the UK consumer is routinely expected to accept inferior quality goods that quite frankly don't do the job properly, when instead these goods could be made to a higher standard either overseas or at home. A key factor for the decision to buy this product is that it is designed and manufactured in Germany. Shame on the British firms for not making them at home!By way of an unwelcome demonstration of the ruggedness of the toaster, when it was delivered from Amazon the courier for some inexplicable reason chose to throw the parcel over a 6ft high locked gate at the side of the house and the box travelled about 8ft along the passageway. Despite this the toaster has suffered no apparent damage. Testament perhaps to the quality of the Amazon/Greif packaging as well as the construction of the toaster. The product is supplied witha 2 year manufactuer guarantee, but be careful to keep your receipt as there appears to be no online or paper product registration for this available. I have written to GREIF UK about this an am awaiting a response.Overall, very impressed. Is it worth the money? so far yes, provided it lasts.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH - DO NOT BUY
I bought this to go in my kitchen as it looked very stylish and robust. The first time I used it it took ages to toast and even then it only toasted each end of the bread and left the middle of the bread white ... I tried again 3 more times but the same thing happened. The house took ages toI asked to send it back and just got a really abrupt reply from a so-called customer service person who wrote ...'send it back to Graef for a repair then' . I will not buy anything more from this company as they are so rude.

Practical and great design.
Great build quality and easy to operate. It toasts - that's a given, it warms your buns, cheeky but useful, and its slim design makes it easy to fit on the worktop. I like this a lot. Cool wall too

Nice sleek design.....
This Graef toaster is a god-send in design: sleek and streamlined and, therefore, perfect for a smaller more modern designed kitchen with limited counterspace. This design is hard to find now too, amidst all of those chunky and wide retro-look toasters that dominate the marketplace nowadays. This German manufactured toaster comes with a proper three pin plug, which is reassuring, given past reviews I read about this product. Toast cooks evenly, whether home made or slice wrapped, and it is easy to use with a single simple numerical setting display on a single dial. It comes with a separate bun rack and you can de-frost with it too. When toast is browned, it lets off a 'ping' sound. On the downside: the power cord is long and you may need to cut it to size if it does not coil to your preferred length to socket underneath the base. The toaster also feels a bit flimsy, for my liking, and the crumb tray is not too efficient either. Each time I move the toaster to clean around it, I end up with a sprinkling of crumbs to wipe off too, which is annoying when the tray should be catching them all to prevent a mess like this. You also need to give the brushed steel trim a good wipe to get rid of fingerprints. Large sliced bread can also be a squeeze seated horizontally, and vertically larger slices leave a small unexposed to heat part resulting in the tops being undercooked. But, all in all, this glossy black and brushed steel toaster looks very stylish and is simple to operate and does the job well. So far, I think it is worth the price and represents better value for money for a high end toaster than other similar sleeker designs on the market.

not worth the money
I bought this because i liked the design and colour. The reasons for such a low rating are:-1. Too expensive2. Slow3. In common with all the toasters i've owned the slot is not deep or long enough to accommodate two slices. Why don't they send the designer to the shop first with instructions to only make a machine where the bloody bread fits!!!

Beautiful
This toaster was bought for an awkward bit of narrow counter-top where fatter toasters simply couldn't fit. It is replacing a broken one in a holiday rental property so has to be simple to use and difficult to break. I wanted something with the Dualit quality appearance but (knowing from my 20-year-old Dualit at home how gorgeously temperamental they can be) with more conventional technology. This toaster fits the bill. It looks really smart, toasts perfectly with even colouring of the bread and is easy to get used to (we didn't manage to burn a single slice on our first breakfast session!). Big price tag and only time will tell whether or not it can go the distance but so far so good...

Hochwertiger Toaster, aber MADE IN CHINA
Kaufempfehlung!! Ich bin happy :)
