So, here's a little story of how I learned the importance of reading product descriptions thoroughly. I did catch the size mentioned as 24x18, but honestly, I didn't quite grasp how massive and hefty a 24x18x1.5 inches solid teak wood board could be. Fast forward to the package arriving, and let me tell you, I was genuinely surprised as I wasn't expecting something that size and weight that day.This board is a beast. It's got a specified weight of 15 lbs., and I can confirm that because I had a couple of finger-pinching moments during the unpacking drama. Craftsmanship looks top-notch, and finish looks sleek. But the plastic wrapper it came in was stained by the wood, so now I'm a bit worried about placing it directly on our countertop. Hoping a good seasoning with some oil will help with that, or I might have to grab a silicone mat to place it on.The board is equipped with finger slots on both ends for easy carrying, but the one I received does not have the juice groove like in the product photos – it's just a flat cutting surface. I always wanted to have a big, solid cutting board on the countertop, but now that I do, I get why my wife was a bit skeptical. Haha! Don't get me wrong, it looks fancy, but I'm not sure how often we'll use it considering the impending struggle to clean it. Still, it would be perfect for my food photography projects, so I'm gonna hang on to it.And, oh, fun fact: in case you're curious, the board hails from Colombia, but the machines and glue in its making are proudly from the USA. Not sure if that's crucial info, but hey, I thought I'd throw it in there.

We received the cutting board today 7 days late. But it’s holiday season so understandable. It looks ber strong and we’ve already oiled it for its first time. Only complaint so far is that the website to register it is not in service. If that’s important to you, then don’t purchase this item. That’s why I deduct 2 stars

I ordered this 24 x 18 x 1.5” cutting board from the Backyard Dudes because I needed a larger one, but boy, I wasn’t putting enough thought into its size! But I kept and use it anyway. This would be just right for anyone with larger kitchen counters than mine (galley), a backyard barbecue area (no backyard), and muscles for its 15 pound weight (yeah, got them). Also, just right for meat eaters, despite not having the groove some boards have for meat juices (and I’m vegetarian).So, why did I get it despite all that? Here’s why. It’s just beautiful and I love high quality wood. It’s a great surface for cutting masses of vegetables at one time without bits and pieces always falling off the edges. My current ones are too small to have that benefit. I also use it to slice big homemade breads, and serve right on it if I have company, with butter, toppings, and crudités in bowls on it. They always rave about the board! I’ve avoided cutting up beets or avocado and other colorful foods on it that might possibly stain, but it’s not supposed to. Scrubbing and seasoning have been easy, once I’ve gotten it positioned standing in the empty sink.The sound of the knife as it cuts against the teak is very satisfying, not an annoying ring as with my old plastic cutting board. My knives, which are just pretty good and not fancy, will likely be protected from an early demise by teak. There are barely any marks from cutting since I’ve started using it, even though some fruits and raw vegetables I cut can be hard to get through. And, I feel like I’m not going to drop it because of the perfectly made side slots. So far so good, because it seems well made.The teak cutting board I received was enclosed in a close-fitting sealed plastic bag. There was a little tear in it that might or might not have been intentional to allow the wood to breathe, perhaps? It was shipped in an Amazon box without any inner boxes. Despite this, it arrived in absolutely perfect condition, probably due to how sturdy and heavy the board is.So yes, I’m happy, I recommend it, and I think it will make a great housewarming gift, or for one’s own kitchen!

First off, the review from dMyth! is almost exactly my experience as well.1. The plastic around the gigantic board was stained, which made me a little leery of it to begin with.2. There is no grooved edge, as mentioned in most reviews.3. The planing/sanding is 95% finished, but if you run your fingers across, it's not perfectly sanded (one board sits ever so slightly higher than the other, for example). This is a food safety concern and can cause bacteria to grow.4. It's massive! It worked great at a recent party, holding food charcuterie-style.5. I have no idea where I'm going to keep it day-to-day, because I'd rather not leave it on the counter for regular food use until I can finish the sanding.Overall, it's a nice weight, large board, and makes me feel like I have a fancy food display. But the "almosts" make it more work than I'd pay almost 90 bucks for.

This is a beautiful beast of a board that arrived packaged nice and securely in its box. It weighs a ton and it will not slide around on your counter, both features I greatly appreciate.The color is beautiful and the function is epic, but the photos show a liquid catching groove that does not exist. I was surprised and supremely disappointed by this as that was the feature that made me pick this particular board despite knowing how large and heavy it was.However, it functions as a great cutting board and I can't complain about that.If you're okay with the pack of groove, you'll love this!
