One of the best introduction to maths
The media could not be loaded. A very attractive toy for the little ones due to its playful but also extremely educational design. Carefully finished for the fine hands of the children, the system of moving the pieces from a side to another creates an overview of mathematical calculations and helps them learn to subtract and add much more easily through this play. At first, it needs a little patience from parents until the little one gets the hang of the trick, but once he understood the game, our boy was very pleased with its logic. There is a huge difference between the paper method and this gaming way because it keeps them focused and concentrated in a different way, not getting bored so quickly. This is happening because they don't perceive it as a study, but as a game. I highly recommend it, it is an interactive introduction to the secrets of mathematics.

Great visual aid to teach children addition and subtraction
My mum is a teacher and she teaches children aged 6-7. In her class she has many children with SEN and additonal learning needs and some of these pupils rely on visual aids to learn concepts and this is a brilliant way to do this. It is such high quality and the colours are beautiful. It is really engaging for children to as it almost acts like a game which gets the students more involved and more willing to learn which is always a bonus. It is really sturdy so if you have a child who is quite rough with items this should be great for them as it is mostly wooden and difficult to break. It is a nice way to show them how additon and subtraction builds up and down by ones. It is a great learning aid and I do really recommend it for those with visual learners.

Rainbow Counting Abacus – Colourful Aesthetically Pleasing Toy & Great Educational Aid
The counting abacus toy from Bigjigs arrived in a nicely branded cardboard presentation box which would be ideal for gifting the toy in. The toy is already pre-assembled and is composed of x55 different coloured abacus beads threaded onto wires which are held securely in place on a wooden board. Overall, the counting abacus toy measures 37.7cm in length, 9cm in depth and 12.7cm in height. The toy is suitable for a child over the age of 3 years, so would make a lovely 3rd birthday gift, and I do think that the complexity is more suited to little ones of this age and above who will fully benefit from understanding the toy. The abacus was held in a cardboard skeleton upon arrival, so the packaging is totally plastic free. I thought that the presentation was good and it didn’t arrive with any scuffs to the painted surfaces. The toy is very hands on which encourages cognitive development of maths skills including simple addition and subtraction using the equations on the abacus. The balancing scales are a brilliant educational learning aid for toddlers and also encourages the development of fine motor skills, co-ordination and problem solving. The moveable beads components are made completely from FSC certified wood and they are painted in colourful bright rainbow colours which are unisex and work well in combination with the neutral colour of the wood. The variety of colours creates a lovely and aesthetically pleasing rainbow effect which is very eye catching.Overall, the abacus is very sturdy and the pieces are perfectly ergonomic for little hands and the beads are very tactile without any sharp edges that could be harmful. I’m pleased to say the toy also came with the appropriate safety marks on the box. The toy is an aesthetically pleasing object with bold colours and when not in use looks lovely on the nursery shelf. The abacus is gender-neutral in terms of colours so would suitable for both girls and boys to explore and learn.Priced at £22.99 at the time of reviewing, this is a lovely quality counting abacus which is a great combination of being educational, durable and aesthetic. The abacus is well made / finished and there is plenty to occupy your little one with. It is a premium feeling toy and would make a lovely birthday gift – I would definitely recommend it.

...
Cute in theory, but in reality it fails to hold our interests little one's interest for more than 20 minutes per session.Do I think it helps build counting skills? Sure, so long as your youngsters get more use out of it then mine do.
