Great British Railway Journeys: Series 3

This is another Brilliant Collection of Journeys by Michael Portillo following George Bradshaws handbook. There are 5 half hour programmes in each of 5 more documentaries. Which are: Great Yarmouth to London, Windsor to Portland, Oxford to Milford Haven, Berwick on Tweed to The Isle of Man and Dublin to Londonderry. On each of the journeys Michael stops off to see places of interest and talk to people who know about them. The photography from the air is superb with shots of the trains at interesting locations along the tracks. If you enjoyed the first two series you will love series three, if you are seeing three for the first time, you will want to see what you missed and when you have seen all three series you will want more!

rec'd very quickly, next day in facted, so I put this on, it was so enjoyable to watch, because this took you around suffolk, east anglia, and my home town of southend on sea, essex, which was lovely to see the old pier trains still running on there.This also took you through the south wales valleys as well to newport cardiff & brecon, which is where I live now. If you love trains old & new you will not be disappointed with this DVD.I would highly recommend this seller as well.

Michael Portillo, whether you liked him or not as a politician, is tailor made for programmes like this.His easy going manner with the people that he talks to certainly helps in bringing depth to the programmes and keeps the listener/viewer interested throughout.If you like railways, I'm sure that you'll like this.

Bought for my husband’s birthday so have not watched it yet. But we usually enjoy these Michael Portillo train dvds. Something to look forward to!

I have bought this box set as part of my husbands Christmas prezi. He has all the others, I have watched them all with him and think they are great. I do also love the Continental series, and see that Series 1 is available now.I think Michael Portillo in great with his "Bradshaws Guide" and he makes it really interesting. I rated the third series of Great British Railway Journeys with 5 stars owing to the programme's production quality and the in-depth knowledge, professionalism and sheer entertainment value of presenter Michael Portillo.Michael Portillo with the assistance of a 19th century railway travel handbook, written by George Bradshaw, gives the viewer an insight into the glory days of sight seeing and railway travel of yesteryear.Having viewed both series one and two of the Great British Railway Journeys I just had to purchase a copy of Bradshaws Handbook which I now intend to use on a journey, or two, of my own in the near future.I for one was not disappointed with series three of Great British Railway Journeys and can thoroughly recommend it to railway enthusiasts and people with a genuine love of travel everywhere.

Can never fault Mr Portillo ( or his jolly jackets). So nice and friendly with everyone he meets along the way. I enjoyed these on tv and now am enjoying them again.Looking forward to the next series, Hopefully there WILL be another one.A great way to see around our beautiful country.Informative too.
