I'm not sure, but its quite nice. You can* slouch in it if you really* want to... but it really is made to relax into ergonomic and and good posture.

Does this chair support the back?

There is not a physical back support to the seat, but my experience has been that it is difficult and uncomfortable (perhaps impossible) to slouch in this seat. When I sit in this chair, I am compelled to keep my back straight.
