Bible meets Body self-image. Guess who's winning that battle?
Body image… Couldn't we all use as much help as we can get. There's more than a few pounds of flesh to be had in this book. Sprinkled with a liberal dose of the Good Book, some concrete examples, and a few pretty darn good stories… I'll have to admit, I've got some airplane phobias myself and the next time I hit some turbulence, the “man” and I may be having some words. But the point in that part was all too often we are our own worst enemy in anything and everything we do, feel attempt and wish for. Eileen does a good job of walking and talking you through the belief that we are each made from something bigger, better and badder than us. And the first step to finding our way back there is to be able to look in a mirror and know that we're meant for something more than the sum of the body parts staring back. Alas, the physical world is the physical world and weight and the worry of it is as real as anything in this book. The author does a good job of mixing in that reality with the spirituality that she suggests you rely on to help you bridge the gap between the way you feel about yourself and the way you look with the way you were meant to look and feel about yourself. All in all, another good read and many words of wisdom from the author and a few reminders from the ultimate book of wisdom—Bible 101.

Read with discernment
This book has some great tips and advice for getting your mind right. It has been very true for me that I can have all the knowledge for losing weight and getting in shape and I know what good habits look like, but lately I just have been struggling immensely with turning it into consistent action. Where I am grateful to Eileen and this book has been the insight into the importance of my mind and what I am thinking about. The Bible says in proverbs that “as a man thinks..so he is”. It also says that “from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” as well as “guard your heart with all diligence for from it flow the issues of life”. I realized that the things I have been thinking about myself and different situations have been very destructive and not at all in line with what GOD says in His word. The WORD is powerful and so I have been actively setting my mind on what God says and it has already made an amazing difference in my thoughts and actions. Why I say that you have to read with discernment is because a good part of the book smacks of “word of faith” stuff- if you don’t know what this is, I urge you to inform yourself and do some research, it is too much for me to get into now. But the word of faith movement actually comes from New Age philosophies and is peddled by deceptive and or ignorant false teachers. There are TONS of prominent “Christian” teachers out there who are immersed in this false teaching.Eileen brings up a supposed scientific study where a man recorded the effect that words have on water-this study has been debunked and it doesn’t take a lot of research to uncover that. Eileen uses this to support the idea that our words “create”. Only God creates. She also has a completely unbiblical interpretation of Eve’s fall in the garden of Eden. She claims that Eve fell to the serpents claim that she should be ashamed of her nakedness and ran and hid. However, this is completely false. Eve sinned in Eden because she believed the lies of the devil and distrusted and disobeyed God. Another yes interpretation of Scripture is where Eileen uses proverbs 29:18 “ where there is no vision the people perish”. To support the use of visualization techniques to receive what you want. Well, A full reading of that scripture actually says “ where there is no vision the people perish, but he that keeps the law happy is he”. So what this scripture is telling us is that the vision comes from God’s word and where there is no teaching and understanding of God’s Word the people perish but when we trust God‘s word and obey him we are blessed.Overall, I would not recommend this book because of the misuse of scripture.I am grateful however because Eileen, in the first part of the book reminded me of the importance of my thought life and the importance of believing God’s word and what He says about me, His promises, over what I feel or think.

"You are a God-Pod"
How can you NOT love a book with a chapter titled like THAT? She writes from a religious perspective, but, regardless of whether or not you are religious, this book is full of wisdom about self-acceptance. Treating yourself well is one of the first steps to winning the war on weight, and the lessons in this book are well-worth reading!

I love this book
This book is about so much more than weight loss. I love this book because its 4-step formula and pearls of wisdom are applicable to any habit we want to change in our lives. I have already referred a friend to Amazon to purchase this book and I will be using excerpts from this book in my yoga classes for their transformational potential and ability to create positive change in people's lives.

This book is very practical and surprisingly addressed some things that were new to me! Which, on this topic, is pretty rare. I shared it with a few friends who are enjoying it as well. I would highly recommend.

I like the plethora of quotes scattered throughout the book - ...
This is a book that is not only about the idea of re-evaluating your attitudes to food and your self image, but it gives ideas of how to do this. I like the plethora of quotes scattered throughout the book - poignant, funny, spiritual, incisive and always to the point. I particularly like the section about being your own masterpiece - a concept that resonates for me.
